Introduction
You will be abusing a bug to bypass the repair screen presented when you interact with the drop pod interface. This will save you some time and resources, since you probably will be running into drop pods until you fill out your inventory slots.

This trick could be used to bypass any interactable that has a repair screen, so far I have tested it in Damaged machinery, Damaged Containers, Drop pods and Terminals on abandoned buildings[nomanssky.gamepedia.com]. It can also be used in crashed freighters containers and Portals.
What you need to get started
The Drop Pod
First, you need to find a Drop Pod. I won't be covering that in this guide, but you can refer to the wiki to learn more about Drop pods[nomanssky.gamepedia.com] and Drop pod Coordinate Data[nomanssky.gamepedia.com]

An easier to solve Repair Screen
Second you will need something with a repair screen that's easier to get past. The most easy options are Damaged Machinery[nomanssky.gamepedia.com] and Damaged Containers[nomanssky.gamepedia.com]. Since they are pretty common and you can just discard the item to get it repaired.
How to make it work
  1. Get to your "easier repair screen", I will use the damaged container as an example, since most of the times you will find one close to the Drop Pod, by the save point. If there is none there, scan the area and find a cargo drop or a damaged machinery, which I'd say it the second most easy to find.

  2. When you interact with it, repair the item either by selecting Discard or transfering the trash into your inventory. As soon as you do it, hit Return quickly, before you colect the item. You will know you did it right if you get the container to be open, but still interactable, like in the images below. Notice that they are open, but the interact option is still present:

  3. You can collect the item now if you want to, the important part is that the game stored the information that you fixed the damaged item, but it still didn't gave you the reward

  4. Now, go to the Drop Pod and interact with it and wait, you will face the Repair screen for 1-2 seconds and then the animation to select where to put the new slot will apear. Congratulations, you just saved 55xIonised Cobalt, 45xSodium Nitrate, 25xChromatic Metal, 25xCondensed Carbon, and your time.

If you have any questions, leave it in the comments.

Your theory makes sense to me too, thanks for the info.

Hey! I've apparently just rediscovered this and I've also came to the same conclusion of how the glitch works. I've also had the idea to use it to fix damaged starship inventory slots! However after a bit of experimenting I found out that opening the inventory menu clears out the glitch, probably because the game only stores the last ui component for reuse. So when you open the inventory menu that immediately replaces the cached ui component so when you then use the inventory menu to go to the repair, the repair ui gets reinitialized from scratch and ruins the glitch. At least that's my theory.

If anyone knows how to get to a ship's component repair screen without opening the inventory menu screen... this glitch could get way more lucrative.

Seems to work with crashed freighters too. Not entirely a free lunch, but every other container could be glitched by "fixing" the previous

FYI for those that cannot get this method to work: You need to be closer to the exosuit upgrade terminal for this to work, just get inside the drop pod and interact with it then.

Oh I noticed this a while back but never put the pieces together I just thought It was a random glitch with drop pods. This makes a lot of sense tho!

I tried this on factories and it works for them too. When you collect something after you were successful at turn off the alarm, you can use the terminal much more often than only one time.
