Important Note
I've found that this ship and other ships with large conveyer systems and hydrogen thrust can encounter issues when initially pasted in. My current fix is to add a small hydro tank (and maybe another conveyer junction), let the tank fill up, then remove it and anything else I added. After that, things seem to work fine. No idea why it works that way.

Main Description

Knightmare Defense Industries presents the Gallowglass Class Battleship. Designed to be a front line juggernaut, the Gallowglass offers a fast, well protected weapons platform. Despite being the largest KDI warship, it is far from the slowest. It's engines, the most powerful equipped on any KDI ship yet, can propel the ship at 1.5 G and allows it to land on planets if necessary. Though the ship is capable of lifting off of any planet, it is not equipped for landing and requires modification to do so. The Gallowglass is built with more of a focus on combat, and does not have a hangar or cargo bay, instead relying purely on connectors and support ships for supplies. The internals of the ship have also received an update from prior designs, including increased protection for vital internal compartments. The class is named after the Gallowglass, a group of elite warriors of Norse and Scottish decent. [www.historynet.com]

The Gallowglass uses a complex Hydrogen-Ion Drive which produces 492 MN of force, the most powerful drive any KDI ship is equipped with to date. Its Jump Drives have a maximum jump distance of 2,446 Km. The ship carries 80 large turrets, 48 Gatling and 32 Missile, with 20 Interior Turrets and 16 forward facing Rocket Launchers. Power is supplied by 4 Large Reactors with several Small Reactors and Batteries as backup. The hull is heavy armor, with extra layers at the front and around critical areas. The ship has a medical deck, galley, gym, cargo storage, basic manufacturing, officer and crew quarters. For landing on planets, it is recommended to attach landing gears to the bottom of the ship and parachutes for safety.

The ship is built fully vanilla and survival ready, with an interior in the style of "The Expanse." I use a light changing script to switch around the interior light settings. Its an older script and I couldn't find the original creator. The script was updated by ColTeH for my use. I used some of Whiplash141's scripts on the ship, including their braking script for "flip and burn" situations, and a few of their mods for taking the screenshots. The mods I used to assist with the screenshots came recommended by Taidyr, who makes some fantastic content as well. I used Darth Biomech's Milky Way Skybox mod as well. Links below. I got inspiration for this ship from ships shown in The Expanse RPG book, I highly recommend The Expanse's books and show.

Please feel free to modify the ship to fit your in game needs. Just be sure to give credit to the original creator.

Author's Notes
So, I started building this ship a few months ago, but then I took a break from SE to focus on other things. Finally came back because I wanted to finish the darn thing, lol. Though I often say this, as I don't really release ships I don't think look good, I think this one turned out quite well. Though there are a few personal nitpicks I have, like the lack of a hangar/cargo bay, some interior design choices, and some empty space here and there, overall I think it looks quite good. I wish SE didn't have the conveyer system issue... also that I didn't need to put 400 small thrusters down in one direction just to get it to move at more than a snail's pace, but we work with the limitations we have and I still like this game despite it's shortcomings. I'm also about to hit my 2,000 hour mark in this game, so yeah, I like it a bit. Also a bit more background, this ship was originally going to be the Octavia III, but I felt that wasn't a great class name and wanted something different. The Gallowglass are an interesting group, and kinda epic. They're basically the descendants of Scottish Clansmen and Vikings, often had giant stature, and were absolutely brutal in battle. So that felt kinda fitting for this ship. Oh, I should add some more lore in for this. And if you hadn't guessed, I basically write this down as I'm finishing up the workshop page. Anyways, I hope you enjoy this!

If you have any questions, comments or feedback about the ship, please leave them in the comments below. I'm always looking to improve upon my work. If you enjoy the Gallowglass Class Battleship, likes are greatly appreciated. Thank you for browsing this item. Safe Voyages! Papple.

@Canny_Bol Efficient use of internal thrust. Small Hydrogen Thrusters are very efficient for the space they take up. There are a few downsides though, such as limited fuel capacity, but the worse one is the potential lag due to game code issues. Fortunately that's not too bad for this ship, but the lag was the main reason why I waited so long to try building ships this big with internal hydrogen thrust.

How'd you get it to go so fast? I can wade into a fight between like 20 ships and be fine, and yet it speeds like I've never seen.

@Canny_Bol Thanks!

Man, this ship is beautiful. I'm going to put so many torpedoes on this baby. Very good and nice design, 10000/10 for verticality.

Ah, thanks man, its cool to get proper insight on how ya'll manage to build these things lol

@[Omega] I really ought to write something down, would be easier to reply to this kind of question, lol. I've done it a few different ways tbh, but usually once I have a ship idea, I begin with the engine hull, then build out the rough shape of the hull from there and the engine. I work out the internals, finish those, then do the details for the exterior.

Really enjoying looking around you KDI vessels (especially this one). Whats your sorta build process with stacked, expanse style ships like these?

@Sintharia Glad you like them!

Yeah it's not a big deal. I really love the ships regardless. Especially the "brake" system. Also a big Expanse fan myself :)

@Sintharia Yeah, the glass "stairs" work as airtight, because reasons. If you grind them down, they'll stop being airtight. *Shrugs* I am considering using the new armor panels instead, but it would take a bit of effort to update my workshop ships.
