How to "play offline".

This guide will teach you how to use the pseudo offline mode. It only applies to the Steam version of the game.

World of Guns has many problems, errors, and limitations. Some models are incorrect. Some disassembly, reassembly, unloading, reloading, and operation animations are incorrect, unsafe, or impractical. Some parts and accessories in the game are also unsuitable for some weapons. Therefore, World of Guns should NOT be used for education, research, or assistance.

If you need help, contact the manufacturer of your weapons, explosives, or weapon-related equipment, or your local firearms instructor or a gunsmith.

Your progress can be reset for inactivity. To prevent this, simply subscribe to the News Digest (also called the Newsletter).

If the developers reset your progress for inactivity, then ALL your Experience Points and Credits and Steam achievements for the game will be deleted.

If you reset your progress manually (for any reason), then ALL your Experience Points and Credits (including bought ones) and Steam achievements for the game will be deleted.

Why you cannot truly play offline

World of Guns does not have the true offline mode. Instead, the game has the extremely uncomfortable and awful pseudo offline mode. The game's resources must be precached (temporary downloaded) every time you start World of Guns after a start or a restart of your computer. Without the Internet access, these resources cannot be precached and you cannot even enter the main menu. And all the necessary models, shooting ranges, skins, textures, art, and music albums must be precached (it takes a long time) in order to use them offline. The game cache (temporary storage) is cleared every time you start or restart your computer. And sometimes the download speed from Noble Empire's servers is too slow. Many players say that they can't enter the main menu when Noble Empire's servers are offline. The developers confirm that players can't enter the main menu when the servers are offline. A terrible system, indeed.

Test if you have the cache problem when you use the hibernation mode of your PC.
Test if you have the cache problem when you run both WOG and Steam as an administrator.
Test if the cache gets cleared when you set game folders to "read only".

Precache a small, old model (like the Remington Model 95 (Deringer) pistol). Simply open it in any game mode, then restart your PC and check if the model has the "SD card" icon (in the Catalog and on the Map). If it does, then you don't have to precache anything after every start or a restart of your PC.

It seems that the cache location is this one:
C:\Users\You\AppData\LocalLow\Unity\Noble Empire_World of Guns
"You" is your user name. The "C" drive (or a different drive like a "D" drive if your user folder is there) contains the cache.

If you can't enter the main menu or download a model, try to open these Noble Empire's websites below without using a proxy server or a virtual private network (VPN). Make sure that your firewall and your parental controls don't block the access to Noble Empire's websites, Steam websites, and the Steam client.

Make sure that you have enough space on your hard disk drive (HDD) or on your solid-state drive (SSD).

Go to the main menu, then click on the "Account" button at the bottom of the screen. Noble Empire's server name (your account uses that server) is at the top right corner of the window.

First steps

The World of Guns' resources must be precached first. Simply start the game when you have the Internet access and when your Steam client is in the online mode (not in the offline mode). The resources will be precached automatically. Just wait until the main menu appears on your screen.

DO NOT restart or turn off your computer if you want to continue playing offline, or the game cache will be cleared and you will have to precache everything again! But you can switch to the suspend to RAM/standby/sleep mode of your computer's operating system. Just do not turn off your computer's power supply unit or your house electricity. Since I quit playing, someone else should test the hibernation/suspend to disk mode. If your computer restarts itself or turns itself off, then it needs maintenance, repairs, or upgrades.

Remember, you do not have to precache all the content because it will take a lot of time.

How to precache the models

Go to the main menu, then click the "Catalog" button at the bottom of the screen, then click the "Precache Unlocked Models" button (it only precaches all the models in the game; you have to precache everything else manually) at the bottom left corner of the screen. All the models in the game will be precached automatically. Even with a fast Internet connection, it will take a lot of time, so take a rest or do something productive. Click the "Close" button after all the models have been precached. Precached models have "SD card" icons.

Or go to the main menu, then click the "Catalog" button, then open a model (click on a model name and then click the "Open" button on the right), and then choose any game mode. The model will be precached automatically.

How to precache the shooting ranges

Same as above, but click the "Shooting Ranges" button at the top left corner of the screen. Then click on a range, then click the "Open" button on the right, and then click the "Shooting Range" button at the top right corner of the screen. The shooting range will be precached automatically.

How to precache the skins

If you do not have a skin for a model, then you have to precache it through the Paint mode.

• Open a model.
  
• Open the Paint mode by clicking the "Paint" button on the right.
  
• Go to the Settings of the Paint mode (click on the "gear" icon at the bottom right corner of the screen).
  
• Click on an empty slot to select it.
  
• Click the "Download" button below.
  
• Click on a skin to select it.
  
• Click the "Select" button on the left. The skin will be precached automatically.

If you have a skin for a model, then open the model, then launch any game mode, then click the "Texture" button at the top right corner of the screen, and then select a slot. The skin will be precached automatically.

You need to buy a single or both Texture Packs to increase your total number of slots, but you should not do that. See the warning section above.

How to precache the Paint mode's textures

• Open a model.
  
• Open the Paint mode.
  
• Go to the Settings of the Paint mode.
  
• Select an empty slot.
  
• Go to the Patterns (click on the "camouflage" icon at the bottom right corner of the screen).
  
• Click the "New Pattern" button.
  
  
• Click on the texture image on the right of the "Texture" text.
  
  
• Click on the Pattern group to select it (from Camouflage to Metal).
  
• Click the "Select" button.
  
• Click on any part of the model to paint it with the selected Pattern. The Pattern group will be precached automatically.
  
  
• Then go to the Stickers (click on the "skull" icon at the bottom right corner of the screen) and do the same thing that you have done with the Patterns, but you do not have to stick the Sticker to the model. The Sticker group will be precached automatically.

To clear a slot, select it, and then click the "Clear Slot" button twice.

You need to buy a single or both Texture Packs to have more textures, but you should not do that. See the warning section above.

How to precache the art

The art are artworks of models and shooting ranges. Most of them are completely random pictures of varying quality from the Internet. Some pictures are made by the developers in the game or in rendering software. To precache these pictures, open a model or a shooting range, and then click the "More" button at the bottom of the screen. The artworks will be precached automatically.

Last steps

When you have precached everything necessary, quit the game, then start the Steam client in the offline mode, and then start the game again.
