[FSF] Meditation Freedom (Legacy Version)

Description
Announcement

I've redesigned how this mod works. Instead of patching every single item so it allows all meditation types and gives the highest amount of psyfocus I've instead made a free placable meditation focus which allows all meditation types and gives the highest amount of psyfocus. This means mods won't need patching if they add new focus objects and it means I can set up my people to meditate at an altar or reliquary, or any other object without making a patch for it.

Since this is a major change I've made this workshop entry a Legacy version and uploaded a new version. Since I changed the packageid it'll likely need to be reactivated in your game (hopefully the mod mismatch window will clue you in) but I think that's a bit less obnoxious than completely changing how things work for people in the middle of a save without warning.

You can find the new version here

Description

In the Royalty DLC when it comes to meditation people are allowed only specific types of meditation depending on their traits and backgrounds. Making meditation areas is encouraged by giving focus bonuses but its severely limited by the meditation type and its items.

This mod does the following.
- All meditation items/buildings allow all meditation types.
- All meditation items/buildings are set to 40% regardless of other factors and no longer link to other items for additional bonuses.
- Nature shrines can be built without a nature based psycaster.
- Nature shrines and the Anima Tree no longer get a debuff from nearby artificial items/buildings.
- The Anima Tree can be grown in growing zones.
- All pawns have Natural and Artistic meditation types by default.

Note: Walls have not been modified. Walls would likely cause major issues with designating meditation zones.

I removed linking items/buildings for bonuses to allow more freedom in building meditation areas. The linking mechanic is neat but can be a hindrance for creative building. Alternatively, I could have added a large list of acceptable items to link to but in the end, I decided it was best to simply remove linking and include the bonus in the base meditation value.

For the most part this mod is about playing how you want without penalties. With everything unlocked and without item/building restrictions you can have your people meditate however you want them to. Make everyone meditate over a campfire, an awful sculpture or build a lovely garden area with a nature shrine.

Mod Compatibility

I've added patches to fix meditation items in the following mods.

- Rim of Madness - Bones
- Vanilla Factions Expanded - Vikings

@Betra
This version was discontinued because its overall less compatible with everything. You can find a link to the newer version in the description or under my steam workshop mods.

Yes providing there's no conflicts with mods you'd be able to have anyone meditate and learn from the anima tree regardless of background. If you're new to the mod I'd suggest getting the new version you can find the link in the description near the top. The new version was changed a bit to function better and have some less intrusive patching.

Dose this mean all pawns would be able to link and gain a psycast lvl from the anima tree?

@Rainoa
Since it's entirely an xml mod that's extremely unlikely. Also this entry of the mod is discontinued. You can find the new version here.

I added an announcement to the top. Sorry about that I meant to do it yesterday but never got around to it.

@FrozenSnowFox, could you please put the main differences between this one an a new one in both mod descriptions instead of those comments?

@Blazerik
The Legacy version changed all focus objects to provide the maximum psyfocus 40% and has since I first made it. However I disabled linking which is how you would normally cap it out at 40%. The idea being that unlike vanilla no meditation type is superior to any other.
Blazerik Jul 23, 2021 @ 7:36pm
Yes it is better to have it as seperate mods since in my case I would have little interest in the new method that defaults to "max psycast" esepcially since what I use it for is to let everyone meditate at anima trees (which so far has been broken in most mods I'v tried, but I havnt tested if your elders patch fixed anything)
