Are you tired of your colonists wandering around doing nothing while trying to form a caravan? This mod makes colonists and animals behave more intelligently during caravan formation. Animals will now move to the caravan spot on their own, and colonists will spend more of their time gathering items and loading them into pack animals. If a pawn is lost during caravan formation, the caravan will go on without them if it can. Also, this mod fixes some bugs in the caravan forming process.

This mod is compatible with your existing save files, and saves using this mod are compatible with vanilla, as long as you didn't save during caravan formation.

To fix transport pod loading as well, check out: Billy's Improved Load Transport Pods

  • See if the the error persists if you just have this mod and its requirements active.
  • If not, try adding your other mods until it happens again.
  • Post your error-log using HugsLib and command Ctrl+F12
  • For best support, please use the Discord-channel for error-reporting.
  • Do not report errors by making a discussion-thread, I get no notification of that.

Tried this, attempted to form a caravan twice, never formed after a full day each time. Couldn't tell where the "loaded" items were as none of the caravan pawns or animals had them in their inventory. Pawns got stuck in roping animal loops.

Pretty sure there was a caravan update for the core game making them more efficient, that could be causing the problems. That is a wild guess as I'm not sure if the author of this mod had taken that into account during their last update

attempted to try this (1.4 but using other mods aswell ) after testing and removing several mods i found this was the problem. Completely broke caravans , will not load anything just Activity: forming Caravan (wandering/moving) drafting/undrafting does not snap them out of it just ges right back to idling

Draftable Animals are also buggy. Have to remove em from the Caravan and put them back in to make the pawns move and load the Cravan up.

Thought id give it a shot in 1.4.. does break caravan assembly and it seems drafting and undrafting didnt result in any change. Also seems to be a bug when and if u have grabbed a few things for the trip..when u eventually just cancel the caravan and pawn goes to put away those things, mine got stuck it seems in a loop trying to put away his forced worn gear.. which was weird

You can resolve the freezing situation by drafting and undrafting pawns. Using only one pawn and one animal (maximum) makes this issue easier to deal with and is generally the optimal way to handle caravans.

I still use this mod and when it gets 'stuck' I select all pawns on caravan, draft and undraft them. That usually gets the caravan to pack remaining items and moving off the map.

That said, I noticed one thing that seems to get them 'stuck'.
If I tell the caravan to take 20 meals and I only have 21 meals.

If two non-caravan pawns quickly take/eat 3 meals before my caravan can collect 20 meals... I think that might cause a hang up.
This can also cause an issue if I tell the caravan to take a specific weapon or armor and a non-caravan pawn/robot decides to move that item to a different storage/zone location while the caravan is being loaded.

Since the item is temporarily in a non-caravan pawn's inventory... the caravan may not be able to see it and so it gets 'stuck' waiting.
Hopefully this helps those who, like myself, still use this mod and are looking for a work-around for the 'stuck' loading.

Don't use this mod at this moment, I think this is the Mod causing Giddy!up Mods broken.
