Descriere
A simple mod that does what the title says, lets your colonists use the Comms Console as a joy object and chat on it with other people, works as social rec type.

Slowly trains social skill, but no interaction between pawns is actually happening, so no relations will change.

(sadly theres no actual speech bubbles, i really dont know how to implement that)

-- as a disclaimer to everyone that has already asked or wants to do so, no, pawns wont be able to change ralations, trigger events or interact with factions in this mod, that is both beyond my modding experience and too big of a scale for this mod, if you want that, mod it yourself or get someone with more experience to do it --

The "Tweaks Galore" mod has a "chat on comms" recreation type, and is 1.5 compatible.

the guran tree has a hidden unit inside the tree for things like birthing calculations... couldnt you use that and the 'animals are fun' concept to make it so the comms console has a quasi animal entity that is joyful?

Hey, 5Katz, I bet with the stuff for Anomaly, you could push an optional patch that uses content from anomaly to make it function with Speakup and Interaction Bubbles now. Since the DLC added a way to basically have a hidden pawn on the map. In theory, whenever a pawn uses the console, it could blink in and out of existence.

I've worked with the maker of SpeakUp before, sadly it uses the basegame social interaction system, changes their text, and then displays the social log as speech bubble, giving the illusion of first person speech for colonists. This sadly doesnt solve the issue that on the comms console, there is no recipient pawn "getting" the interaction, thus no social log text to flavour, thus no speeck bubble. Easiest way really would be speech blubble graphics without text, rendered the same way the cards for poker or the "Broom" for cleaning are rendered, as "Motes" that would require me to find out how those work, and how to attach the trigger to draw speech bubble motes onto the comms console on interaction. as stated before, way out of scope for this mod, and way too much work to learn for just a little graphic plopping up and floating away

I just discovered the SpeakUp and Interaction Bubbles mods. And it had me wondering: Shouldn't using these two mods make it possible to produce dialog bubbles for this mod, while colonists are chatting on the comms for joy withOUT a need for programming in C# to create a .DLL?

SpeakUp even has a Wiki: https://github.com/sergiodinapoli/SpeakUp/wiki
And it looks like it allows coding dialog speech bubbles using only mostly standard .XML code. :lunar2020playfuldog:

I dont know if this is already a mod, but let pawns instigate a raid with a faction that has poor relations

@Sylphienne
I agree! Though, instead of actual chat bubbles, I'd even be happy to see little emoji bubbles like we see in the modified "screenshot" above. (I was so disappointed to learn that those emoji bubbles were lies.:steamsad: :lunar2020sweatrat: )
But, the mod author explained that this is difficult to do and would require someone with more programming skills to make that happen.
