Description
Vanilla | Survival | Subgrids | No Scripts | DLC

The S-500 Themis is a pretty simple low tech exploration ship powered by hydrogen thrusters.

Equipped with a jump drive, plenty of thrust, enough tanks to last you a while and a couple of guns to defend yourself against space pirates the themis makes for a quite decent exploration ship. Since it doesn't require platinum or uranium, it can even be built early on on planets. It has enough thrust to fly everywhere and an ascent only takes about 5-10% hydrogen. It has a fully pressurized interior with everything you'll need. Thanks to the built in rotor gun, picking off pirates from a safe distance is really easy. I also didn't know what else to do with the space.

The rotor gun is the only part with subgrids and not necessary for the ship to function. It's pretty easy to build in survival anyways though, just stack some rotors on top (5 total), group all under 'Rotor Lance - Accelerators' and the top also under 'Rotor Lance - Generator'. The ship uses no scripts at all.

I really love this ship. It is one of my favorites. I built it in Survival and had great fun. the only issue is the fron and the rear of the ship is (was) literally held together with an O2 generator and a few block. after a "slightly rough landing" it unfortunately broke into 2. I actually made myself an escape from triton mini scenario thanks to that mishap.

I hence modified the center of the ship with blast doors. Tight fit inside. but an absolute beauty. feels like home inside.... purposeful.

Built one in survival and it's the bees knees, can't wait to go mess people up with the rotorgun!

The hydro tanks are airtight where you don't expect them too. I know it looks kinda stupid, but I just didn't find any other way of making the interior (especially the stairs) fit. I guess I could have included a refinery and assembler, but that would have meant no interior and in the end I rather build for the looks than for practicality.

A thing to note, this ship is fine for exploration and what nut, but it's no command ship economy type vessel. Due to the fact that it lacks a large refinery and at least a regular assembler. I also loved the fact that i had enough space to add a couple of more interior turrets & 2 more gatlings till i reach 10 000 k PCU. I'm currently in the process of grinding it down, since the 2x2x4 refinery i attached on top does not look nice. I will try to make this an even number of blocks wide, maybe i can fit it on top somehow. Cheers. Very nice design. :steamhappy:

Feedback after I've built it by hand on survival / official server. Love the interior, haven't seen an interior this good and this compact and detailed in a long time. Interior is amazing. Love the exterior shape too, looks like a gladius from above or something similar to a short straight sword. I especially love the fact that it's under 10 000 PCU, even tho i could have traded PCU on the server I've built this on, i chose not to, just so i could see if i can get something usable within the limits, it's hard but doable. One thing that bothers me and that i don't understand is how can some parts pe airtight when i can see gaps between the interior and the hydrogen tanks, this bothers me somehow. Also at the back there's a conveyor corner that leads to nowhere, i'm guessing that's decoration? Still that's some PCU wasted there.
