Build circular or oval structures using StructureSaver2.
By MachoGrump
WORK IN PROGRESS: This guide is mostly a way to share pre-made polygon shapes usable with StructureSave2.

StructureSaver2 (author: joyr), is a mod on steam. StructureSaver2 lets you save existing builds as plans and restore these plans elsewhere. You can also use other peoples plans and use those as long as you have the required mods used in the plan you're trying to restore.

The plans I'm sharing here are polygons, 79 different polygons that can be used to make circular structures. These polygons are 99.9% perfect, they can't be perfect because of the limited number of decimals in computational systems.

I'm also sharing oval plans to make oval structures, these ovals are not elipses they are trifocal ovals.

The polygons have multiple variations, sides can be 1 wall wide, 2 walls wide or 3 walls wide. The polygons range from 5 sides (pentagon) to 180 sides (for the insane builders)

SETTING UP STRUCTURESAVER2 PLANS
For people who do not know how to setup donwloaded plans and who have not changed GameUserSettings.ini.
  1. Subscribe to StructureSaver2.
  2. Start ARK, let ARK download and install StructureSaver2
  3. Quit ARK.
  4. Open a file explorer window.
  5. Navigate to your SteamLibrairy folder. Out of the box StructureSaver2 folder is typically: SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\ARK\ShooterGame\Saved\SaveGames\StructureSaver2
  6. Navigate to the StructureSaver2 folder.
  7. There should be several files in that folder. You do not need to change any of these files.
  8. Create a new folder called "PreDefs" (no quotation marks)
  9. Navigate to the "Predefs" folder
  10. Copy my dowloaded plan files into the "PreDefs" folder.
  11. Make copies of these plan files.
  12. Rename the copies with the required numbering system StructureSaver2 uses. the first plan file must be renamed 1.sav, the second plan file must be renamed 2.sav etc..
NOTE1: Do not use 0.sav, 0.sav is used for transfered plans from within StructureSaver2.
NOTE2: The file numbering sytem is limited to 99.sav. Also there must be no gaps in the file numbering. File numbering must start at 1.sav. If you have 1.sav, 3.sav and 4.sav StructureSaver2 will only read 1.sav.
NOTE3: Plan files can be in any order, you chose which one will be 1.sav etc..
NOTE4: A structureSaver2 Plan file can contain several build plans. The first plan file (1.sav) build plans will be displayed at the top of the Predefs list, the second plan file (2.sav) build plans will be displayed below 1.sav, the third plan file (3.sav) build plans will be displayed below 2.sav etc..
  13. Start ARK, go the the "MODS SETTINGS" and transfer StructureSaver2 to the "ACTIVE MODS" panel.

That's it. The downloaded plans should now be availlable in the PreDefs list within StructureSaver2 Restorer Control.
USING STRUCTURERSAVER2 (Single Player Non-Admins)
For non-admins players (players who play the game without assists)
  1. The level 5 engram Restorer can be used to restore plans that contain S+ or SS pieces.
  2. You must craft a Restorer first (level 5 engram). Requirement is 1 standing torch and 20 engram points. If the engram shows as level 50 modify the Game.ini, see below.
  3. Place the Restorer like any other building piece down on the ground where you want to restore the build plan.
  4. The Restorer can also be snapped outside of the vanilla foundation. Unfortunately the snap points are not at the very center of the foundation, the snap is centered on the X axis but not on the Y axis. The Y axis snap point is about 1/3 of the foundation size (in StructureSaver2 units 1/3 is about 1.02 units, 3 units is a full foundation size).
  5. I recommend using vanilla foundations.
  6. The restorer can be snapped to S+ foundations but the snap points are not the same as vanilla.
  7. The orientaion of the restorer isn't all that important because within the Restorer controls builds can be rotated by degrees (0.00 precision).
  8. The S+ or SS pieces being restored must be in the Restorer inventory (Restorer radial menu). You may also need restoring funds. The StructureSaver2 base restoring cost is 200 oil. This can be changed in the GameUserSettings.ini (see below).
GameUserSettings.ini Cost amounts and Cooldown timer
These settings set the cost of the restore to pieces only and the restore cooldown timer to 1 second.
In the GameUserSettings.ini under the [StructureSaver] section add the following lines
Costs=PiecesOnly
RestoreCooldown=1
(ref. StructureSaver2 GameUserSettings.ini settings)

Game.ini Engram Level and Cost
In the Game.ini anywhere (bottom is best) under the [/script/shootergame.shootergamemode] section add the following lines and change the level requirement and Cost to you liking. I recommand level 7 since one of the prerequisites is a standing torch which is level 7. You can also change the cost in engram points, set to 1 in this example.
OverrideNamedEngramEntries=(EngramClassName="EngramEntry_StructureSaver_SS_C",EngramLevelRequirement=7,EngramPointsCost=1)
OverrideNamedEngramEntries=(EngramClassName="EngramEntry_StructureRestorer_SS_C",EngramLevelRequirement=7,EngramPointsCost=1)
(ref. StructureSaver2 Game.ini settings )
USING STRUCTURERSAVER2 (Single Player Admins)
For admin players (players who play the game but who also like to build stuff with some assists)
you must be Admin. There are 2 ways to be admin in the eyes of StructureSaver2:
  1. open the console and type infinitestats
  2. Before starting "Play Single Player" in the "GENERAL" tab, scroll down to the bottom and check "SHOW CREATIVE MODE". Start the single player session, hit escape then click on "ENABLE CREATIVE MODE"
From now on when you open Save or Restorer controls you will have 2 options:
  1. Admin box unchecked, you will be able to use Save or Restore as a normal player.
  2. Admin box checked, you will be able to use Save or Restore as an admin, no costs, no building pieces required.

BUILDING A 36 SIDE POLYGON (2 wide)
USE THE VIDEO GUIDE LINK BELOW

I created a video guide to build this polygon but for some reason I can't link my Youtube videos in Steam so here is the external link:

FILLING THE FLOOR
To fill the floor you could just extend each foundation towards the center. That is what you find on a lot of videos on Youtube.

But I don't like that method, it uses way too many floor pieces and it produces a lot of shimmering because the further in you go the more the pieces overlap creating a lot of shimmering.

In the downloaded plans there is a plan called "Floor filling patterns". This plan has foundations placed so that the patterns are centered with the polygons. Screenshot bellow.

There are 5 pattern options:
  1. The centered Adobe foundations
  2. The 2 off-centered Adobe foundations
  3. The 2 Off-centered Wood foundations (same pattern as (2) but at 90 degrees
  4. The 2 Stone foundations
  5. The 3 Metal foundations
I have published videos for option 1, options 2/3, option 4 and option 5. Here are the links

If you dont like finishing off the filling with triangles or if filling pieces always stick out you can add a row of ceilling pieces on the outer ring. Here is a screenshot. The added row is painted in black for clarity. This works best with larger polygons.
FINAL NOTES
Once you have finished your main circle, you could add smaller ones either centered or pushed to the sides (FORWARD), at the same height or higher (ALTITUDE), at different angles (YAW), to make towers or smaller buildings on your main circles or even just off your main circle.

The possibilities are endless.

Remember to not destroy your Restorer just in case you need it to add stuff.

If you have problems using StructureSaver2 I suggest you carefully read the StructureSaver2 documentation. The author will not help you, he will just redirect you to the documentation and if you are too insistent he will just delete your posts.

Have fun.
