MD-201 Heron (Vanilla)

The survival-ready MD-201 Heron is the commercially available civilian version of the MD Missile Corvette. It was developed between the Mk1 and Mk2 missile corvette refresh, and thus incorporates the main fuselage of the Mk1, but boasts the upgraded LOX capacity and triple large H2 thrusters from the Mk2 Roughneck.

The Heron is suited for a crew of up to 4 members with full beds and amenities for long-haul missions. Its exceptionally high thrust-to-weight ratio and surprisingly long jump range (despite sporting only 1 jump drive) makes the Heron exceptional at running NPC hauler missions, or intercepting pirate traders. A contracts terminal has also been included for managing and checking the status of contracts and other missions.

The MD-201 Heron is untested for planetary flight, but theoretically has sufficient forward thrust to reach escape velocity for even the strongest gravity wells. Only the center main rear thruster is needed for normal flight, but the additional 2 engines are on hot-standby for a short-term speed boost for emergency maneuvers. It is also equipped with light self-repair capabilities for some of its core systems
