Description
[Vanilla|Survival Ready|Subgrids]

A small ship mass shift clang drive, I guess you all know how they work by now.

It's basically a small ship version of this.
It's probably too powerful, if so, take out some of the iron from the cargo container, or reduce the power in the script.

You need the Clang Drive Manager Script installed on a prog block on your ship. The script will detect and operate the drive automatically. For more info visit the workshop page of the script. This drive works in two direction simultaneously, so a forwards facing one can also provide thrust in the backwards direction etc. You can place these in all directions you want, the script will recognize them automatically and address them properly depending on the orientation with wasd as input.
It needs to be place in line with the center of mass of your ship and the cargo containers must not be conveyored.

One of the rotors is set to share inertial tensor to vastly increase the safety of this drive. You can turn it off, but it will be alot more wobbly. You can also turn it on for the second rotor, it will be even more stable, but you'll need many more gyros for turning.

You want to build this in survival?
Simple, just copy it: medium cargo-adv roto-adv roto-medium cargo and put some iron ingots in any of the cargos (~10-20 tons)

Some stats:
-Blocks: 6
-PCU: 222
-Mass: 2.5 t + 20 t shift mass (shift mass can be reduced to around 10 t -> less power)
-Force: ~10 MN (about 20 small grid large hydro thrusters)

How to use:
-Place it on your ship (yellow cargo points outwards)
-Make sure it is not conveyored
-Make sure it is in line with the center of mass (else it will exert torque on your ship)
-Install the Clang Drive Manager Script on a prog block on your ship

what?
If you want the script to ignore a block, add [ignore] to its name

how do you disable conveyors for cargo containers??

o7 I'm facing the same problem as pixoe and squid on mod-free multiplayer survival
pixoe Feb 27, 2022 @ 3:07pm
but only when there are mods on the world
pixoe Feb 27, 2022 @ 2:58pm
yeah uh im getting the same problem as squid, the script says its forward but it sends me backwards

After playing around a bit, it must be some mod I have installed causing the issue. Speed mod perhaps.

The Drive is placed correctly, with the yellow container facing rearward. It seems all your mass shift drives are operating backward for me (and with much less power than I've seen demonstrated). I even spawned your Tachyon Racer and the MSDs and the Hydro thrusters were fighting each other.

I don't have access to my pc right now, but I seem to remeber the script is prioritizing main cockpits, then controlled cockpits, then the rest and will remember cockpits after you exited them. It should tell you the orientation of all drives when you select the prog block in the terminal. Is it the right way around there? Maybe you mounted it on the ship with the wrong side. The yellow part is supposed to be moving freely. This drive works backwards and forwards by the way.

My controls are backwards for some reason? Is there any way to manually choose the orientation? Or perhaps manually choosing a certain control block to reference?

It shows the script running for me, We had to go into experimental mode for the custom scripts. Ill play around with it some more later.
