System-by-System Production Chains

As trading and stations have changed since the last time I made this list, I'm updating the information to include a little more info. I am still testing things with the stations in-game and will update this even more as it progresses. Thank you for any feedback and enjoy.

Quick Notes:
-Founding a Mine and Station are pretty straight forward. You will need to claim a large asteroid for the mines and visit a shipyard in order to construct a ship capable of founding a station. <You must select Station Founder box when constructing ship.

-Once founded, you will need a minimum of 30 crew members in order for them to begin production.

-The goods located in (brackets) are what the station needs in order to produce a new product. The -> arrow indicates what station receives the new product produced.

1st Tier Production:
Mines:
Ore Mine: -> Steel Factory / Glass Manufacturer
Coal Mine: -> Steel Factory
Oil Rig: -> Oil Refinery
Noble Metal Mine 1 (Silver/Gold): -> Warhead Factory

Basic Stations:

Been a few years since I played, so this new captain command systems seems to have broken a few things I used to do.

To create a production line in a system, each station needs to be?
Docked? within Transport range? Just use auto shuttles between stations?

How many stations can one system support? all 50+?

Since there is no more 'Trade Routes', how would you move goods from systemA to systemB to keep those production chains going? or is this just not possible anymore?

Feels like they ruined this game for trading... now its more micro management and less macro automated management, is this accurate?

I setup a simple Steel production system in one system which works but it continually fills up with steel due to demand dropping off, which happened to steel tube once I added that... and no way to just automate moving my overage to system C/D/E/F four jumps away, which made trading fun.

anyway, some insight would be helpful, since this seems totally broken now...

You failed to mention Steel being made with Coal and Scrap Metal combined in a Steel Factory. This process requires only 2 resources to create Steel.

Hi everyone, sorry for late responses. Yes, everything related to trading is indeed outdated. I've finally gotten back around to playing around with the game since... whatever/whenever that update was that changed things. Most of this stuff is now outdated... so I'm kinda working on (slowly) to figure out how to get the new system to work and maybe finally include more details.

The section about how to set up a trade ship - I guess that is outdated? I cant figure out how to set up a trader to sell my stuff.. even when using the Procure command there is no way of telling a trader to just buy from my own factories afaik.

I was unaware you could remake the claimed asteroids/stations, and came here to suggest moving them to get more than 3; you can now dock to them, and while your ship (probably) won't be able to do much of anything with it, if you make sure you're oriented the right direction when you dock, you can still do a jump. And you can usually push it straight forward at mayybe 100m/s if you're lucky and you can boost for a really long time (you'll probably never make the thing turn without remodeling it, though)

With remodeling them being an option, I also suspect you can just dock them directly, and just build one giant station that creates literally everything, which might(?) improve performance

Good guide! I'm working on implementing it now! Couple things I've found so far that seem to be outdated.

First of all, you don't need to steal mines in order to pack more than three into a system. An easy thing to do is to claim an asteroid, remodel it to something smaller, and transport it to the system you want. Easy. I've packed 4+ mines into a system this way.

Second thing I noticed is the gas collectors outline in system 1 are out of date. There is not currently a Nitrogen, Hydrogen, Chlorine, and Florine station. I'm trying it with Helium, Nitrogen, Neon, Chlorine, and Florine since that has 3 out of 4 of the specifically used items and the other is covered by the first listed gas collector.

I'll holler if I see anything else that should be updated! Thank you for taking the time to collate all this!
