Introduction
This guide will go over the basics of Killstreak Kits. It will explain how you can obtain them and apply them to your weapons.

Killstreak Kits are modifiers you can apply to a weapon which will track the amount of kills you get with that weapon in a single life.

Where do they come from?
Killstreak Kits, Fabricators and Robot Parts come from successfully completing Operation Two Cities missions and tours in MvM: Mann Up mode. They will be given out at the end of the final wave to every player in the game with a Tour of Duty ticket.

Killstreak Kits, Fabricators and Robot Parts are also tradable. You can either make a post on the official TF2 trading forum or join a trading server. Additionally you can look at some of the community driven trading websites below.

Whenever you use a third party website for trading always practice safe browsing habits; Steam Support has a great article on this which can be found here. You can also follow some of these tips to avoid being taken advantage of or scammed by dishonest users.

Additionally you can read my guide on avoiding common scams.

Always look at tooltip before trading or purchasing Killstreak Kits and Fabricators to ensure they are for the correct item and have the desired sheen and particle.
Killstreak Kits

Standard Killstreak Kits can be found by completing an Operation Two Cities Mann vs Machine tour of duty. Each Killstreak Kit is weapon specific, and can only be applied to the designated weapon.

If you're in possession of a Killstreak Kit it can be applied to a weapon by clicking on it within your inventory and selecting the use with button.

Navigate to the weapon you want to apply it to and follow the prompts after clicking on it.

Once applied the item name will be tagged with "Killstreak" and it will count the amount of kills you get in a single life with the weapon. Your streak will be displayed in the kill feed, scoreboard and on the bottom right side of your screen.

For every five kills you get a sound will play server wide and a message will appear in the center of everyones screen.

The players with the highest killstreaks on the winning team will be displayed at the bottom of the MVP scoreboard.

Specialized
Specialized Killstreak Kits are found from crafting a Specialized Killstreak Fabricator. Specialized Fabricators require robot parts and a unique Killstreak item. The tooltip of the fabricator will reveal which Specialized Killstreak Kit it will create once completed.

Navigate to the Killstreak Fabricator you want to craft. Click on the thumbnail and then select Inspect. The thumbnail of the killstreak fabricator will display how many items you have compared to how many items it takes to craft it.

On the next screen drag and drop the required materials from the left side to their respective box on the right. At any time you're able to click on Apply even if you don't have all of the required materials in the boxes. This will save the items into the fabricator so you can save room in your inventory. The items will be consumed upon use and saved items cannot be returned.

Once you have all of the required materials in the boxes you'll be able to click on a button labeled craft. The fabricator and the materials will be consumed upon use.

Specialized Killstreak Kits are weapon specific and can be applied to an item just like a regular one is. Once applied they will count Killstreaks, and for every 5 kills you get your weapon will emit a glow, which gets stronger the higher your streak gets. The tooltip of the Killstreak Kit will reveal which sheen it will give the weapon.
Profesional
Similar to Specialized Killstreak Fabricators, there are Professional Killstreak Fabricators. These can be crafted by combining Robot Parts, and multiple unique Specialized Killstreak items. The crafting process is the same as a Specialized fabricator. The tooltip of the fabricator will reveal which Professional Killstreak Kit it will create once completed.

Professional Killstreak Kits are weapon specific and will count killstreaks, apply a weapon sheen, and they will emit particle effects from your players eyes which gets stronger the higher your killstreak gets. The particle effect and sheen will be displayed on the tooltip of the Killstreak Kit.

Does the killstrek kit get a one week trade delay similar to when you buy items from the community market? Or can you just trade it after crafting it?

Pardon me if this has been answered in the past, but the web is getting worse when it comes to relevant search results: When making a PROFESSIONAL Fabricator, or even the final Kit, do you get to choose the effect and color? Or is it totally random; for both the effect type and color?
