Werhmacht & OKW Core Builds.
By Star Plat Jotaro
Greetings, commander! Welcome to my example build orders for the Wehrmacht and Ober Kommando West. This guide is specifically a build order or parts of a build order that you can practice and find some success with. These build orders are based on trial and error and knowledge of the current patch (March 2020).

NOTE: These are just example build orders. There are many build orders out there that are effective depending on the map.Furthermore, this guide is designed for new players with basic knowledge of the factions. Highly advanced tactics and pro plays are not included.

I hope you will find the guide useful. Please comment (include suggestions or tips and tricks) and rate this guide :). Enjoy!

Werhmacht Tiger Heavy Tank Build
Commander: Spearhead Doctrine, mechanized assault doctrine, Lightning war doctrine.

Bulletins: 3% accuracy for grenadiers, 2% reload & cooldown for grenadiers, and 5% cooldown on grenadiers.

mg42 team -> build T1 building (Infanterie Kompanie) -> grenadier -> grenadier -> grenadier -> mortar team -> battle phase 1 -> Panzergrenadier -> build a medical bunker at base -> build T2 building (Leichte Mechanized Kompanie) -> SdKfz 222 scout car -> pak AT gun -> Pioneer squad (minesweeper) -> battle phase 2 -> T3 Building -> Panzer 4 -> (for extra AT, get Panzershreks on the Panzergrenadiers, for extra anti infantry, get a second mg 42 team.) -> battle phase 3 -> build T4 building -> save up for the tiger tank.
OKW Mechanized headquarters build
Commander: Overwatch doctrine, Grand offensive doctrine, Elite Armour Doctrine.

Bulletins: 3% accuracy for volks, 2% reload and cooldown for volks, 10% less suppression for volks.

volksgrenadier -> volksgrenadier -> volksgrenadier -> (panzerfusiliers / jaeger or rackatenwerfer). command truck -> mechanized headquarters -> mg34 team -> Panzer 2 Luchs -> Puma car -> upgrade Volks with Stg44s -> command truck -> flak truck upgrade/heavy armour headquarters -> (obersoldaten for anti infantry or another rackatenwerfer for anti tank). -> upgrade the flak truck headquarters to unlock heavy tanks. -> Panzer 4 -> go for a heavy tank (from commander, or finish off all three headquarters to unlock the king tiger). Note: since king tiger takes a long time to obtain access to, consider getting a second panzer 4 or a panther for extra armour capability.
OKW Battlegroup Headquarters Build
An alternative strategy with Oberkommando West is to use the battlegroup headquarters, which heals infantry and provides more support type weapons, than the hard hitting, direct mechanized units.

Commander: Overwatch doctrine, Grand offensive doctrine, Elite Armour Doctrine.

Bulletins: 3% accuracy for volks, 2% reload and cooldown for volks, 10% less suppression for volks.

volksgrenadier -> volksgrenadier -> volksgrenadier -> (panzerfusiliers / jaeger or rackatenwerfer). sWS command truck -> Battlegroup Headquarters -> mg34 team -> SdKfz 251/17 Flak Half track -> Le.IG 18 Infantry Support Gun -> unlock medical personel at the battegroup headquarters -> upgrade Volks with Stg44s -> sWS command truck -> Schwerer Panzer headquarters -> (obersoldaten for anti infantry or another rackatenwerfer for anti tank). -> upgrade the Schwerer Panzer headquarters to unlock medium and heavy tanks. -> Panzer 4 -> go for a heavy tank (from a commander you chose, or finish off all three headquarters to unlock the king tiger). Note: since king tiger takes a long time to obtain access to, consider getting a second Panzer 4, JagdPanzer or a Panther for extra armour capability.

I think Obersoldaten are gonna be more common now, boys
I also find that a second Sturmgrenadier can be helpful on more urban or closer quarters maps for early resource denying ability

That is an interesting solution... thanks for your input. I will keep your suggests noted. People viewing the guide can also read the comments here and inform themselves of these tactics.

Chungus, you can get Pfaust from T2 building as well. So you can skip T1 by using Osttruppen or two pios and two MGs and hoping your opponent won't go for a clown car.

With camouflage, i enable hold fire and move between covers until my troops get close enough to get them with the ambush buff, normally i steal their mortars, the problem if the enemy knows and understand what you are doing, he can counter with mine and detonation charges. Its rare to see people playing with the function to attack from behind lines, and the people don't have idea about how to counter this play stile.

Hi guys,

Thank you for your comments. It is interesting to see your alternative takes on the early phases of Ostheer.

I will make the change with regards to the medical bunker.

As for skipping T2, that does sound situational, and I will try it and see how it goes.

Skipping T1 can be a problem especially since you do not have access to panzerfaust, nor the mortar.

Pawlick, do you have a hard time against an opponent that uses mortars?

Well, wen its a forest or a city map i aways go wit MG<Pio<MG<PG<Bunker<PG, dont even build the T1, and play with a commander with cammoflage, with this all you need to do is ambush the enemy.
Graephen Mar 5, 2020 @ 3:53pm
Unless you have a good start and can afford the 222 really fast, it's no longer worth going for it. So might as well aways skip, now that Pgs are in the HQ. Unless you're going for Paks, you shuld skip the T2 building.
Graephen Mar 5, 2020 @ 3:47pm
Yup, definitely. I usually go MG>Gr>Gr>bunker>Pg/222 or I skip T2 completely, building probably Pgs and go straight for a quick Ostwind/PIV/Stug

Hi Graephen,

You are correct in the sense that this guide is made for newer players with basic knowledge. With that said, I have watched hours of pro player matches and integrated that here.

You are correct about being adaptive depending on the map. Each map will require a slightly different build. Feel free to make your own guide on that!

As for the medical bunker, do you suggest building it before T2 building for Ostheer?
