Description
Spiff's Practical Engineered Solutions, a division of the Weyland-Yutani Corporation, presents Sprite offworld miner with four optimally-spaced drills, and one medium and one large cargo container for ore storage. With realistic 1-1-1 settings, the ore capacity of the cargo containers, cockpit, connector, and four drills is approximately 93 tons. Each drill equipped with a conveyor sorters and ejector to collect only ore (and ice) and dump stone. With only 148 blocks, Sprite is highly optimized to be a low-cost mining solution for a survival startup. Sprite has two batteries for power, but also includes two small reactors for backup. The nearly spherical aspect ratio of Sprite allows for full rotational maneuverability within a mined borehole. As a tunneler, Sprite clears a 10-meter square opening. Finally, the front-facing connector makes docking and offloading ore a breeze!

NO MODS, NO DLC, NO ROTORS/PISTONS; SURVIVAL READY AND PROJECTION BUILDABLE!

NOTES FOR BUILDING WITH A PROJECTOR IN SURVIVAL
1. Build a small-grid projector on a rotor frame that's located on a powered grid; remove the large rotor head and replace with a small-grid rotor head
2. Build a projector on top of the small-grid rotor head.
3. Load the blueprint into the projector; click on the setting to retain the blueprint after construction is complete.
4. Build the blueprint.
5. When completed, grind away the rotor frame and small-grid rotor head, leaving the projector in place so future repairs can be easily made.

No, I don't have a large-grid version of the Sprite. The only large-grid version that I've found useful is the "Dirty Ore", but it needs an overhaul to use armored conveyors because regular conveyors are so fragile now.

Interestingly, the AOE (area of effectiveness) of both small-grid and large-grid miners is identical. That's the entire reason I've given up on large-grid miners; only a small-grid miner can mine a hole large enough to pass through without having the entire front fact be a wall of drills (something that's impossible on Keen's public multiplayer servers with a 5-drill limit.

Do you have a large grid version of this? Most large grid miners cannot use PAM because they are built where they cannot clear the drills.

I boosted this critter with a few hydrogen thrusters; much better performance.

I Like your Miners, trying out the ION one

Thanks. It's my favorite early survival miner.

Thanks looks great

It’s a useful little spud. It can drill a lot of ore pretty quickly, and dumps all that nearly-useless stone. I designed it during a hostile survival mission...something that would grab a bunch of ore quickly, then get me out of Dodge in a hurry (although when it’s fully loaded it’s a bit of a slug).
