Roman Legions for Divide et Impera

Description
01/03/2023 *NEW AND UPDATED VERSION* User @Marcus Aurelius and @Summary have made a new and revamped version of my mod updated for DeI 1.3.1, if you have any trouble getting this mod working for any version of DeI or you ditched it because it was outdated now its time to get it installed again. Some improvements have been made in terms of balancing, new augustan shields and equipment and some other changes I'm personally very happy with, check it out: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2911929586 (stick with his mod requirements)

01/24/2022 *SCRIPTS UPDATED for DeI 1.2.8* Thanks to John1300 the outdated manpower scripts that rendered this mod practically unusable with the newest DeI have been updated! Be sure to grab his mod and load it above mine so his scripts overwrite mine, check the requirements list!!

*NEW CONTENT* As of April 3rd 2020, by the hand of @PawelRut, the unit cards can be changed to DeI style, thanks for your work. To apply the change you can follow the steps below, the .pack file must be loaded above mine

First a little letter:

Hi everyone, I think you guys deserve an apology for the last like 8 months, close to a year by now, since I first announced a Roman Legions mod for DeI with an amazing range of historically accurate (to my extent) legions never seen before. Im just not that type of guy who focuses on one thing until its done, at least not in trivial things like videogames. So I have been going back and forth from this to other things to leaving it completely stalemate. But after multiple turns over it like if it was paint on a wall here it is FINALLY.

****WARNING: THIS MOD WILL NOT WORK WITHOUT THE EXTRAVAGANZA ASSET PACK****

The Mod:

It has finally come to 39 Imperial Legions and 29 Marian Legions. I believe its the most detailed mod ever done
featuring the mighty Roman Legions.

Mechanics are simple, you should be able to recruit all legions when the reforms are met through the campaign. The units basically function as Legionaries and First Cohorts for the Marian reforms and Legionary Cohorts and Eagle Cohorts for the Imperial part, meaning they have the same stats and can be recruited when you can recruit the vanilla units. Of course, they are available in every campaign where you can see those units, with an special mention to Cesar in Gaul.

There is no AoR, this mechanic to me is stupid. Historically the legions were raised where there was a campaign going on and the losses were replenished right where the legion was. Those facts are just the opposite of what AoR is.

The Eagle Cohorts of each legion should be limited to 1 per army and the Legionary Cohorts to 9 per army.

After the Imperial reforms, you can upgrade all Marian units to Imperial Legions!!! A cool mechanic which i have not seen anyone take advantage of in these types of mods.

Custom historical facts are displayed on the each legion first cohort tooltip. They are not exagerated so they dont break the UI. Dont miss the chance to learn actual history about the legion that intrigue you more.

Cesar in Gaul (CiG) has received a special treatment. Only the Marian Legions that accompanied Caesar or were founded by him for his campaign to conquer the Gaul can be recruited.

The Looks:

Every Legion has his custom soldier, centurion and signifer shield pattern, the new Legions have their one based on reenactment groups following the great work of the Shield Retexture Proyect.

Every Legion has its own standard, new Legions have their one made from excellent DeviantArt recreations or from actual reenactment groups.

Extravaganza models used here, so each legion comes with custom equipment models.

thank u for answering this quick. my bad i didn't read the beginnig
noniac  [author] Jan 31 @ 9:00am
@Lambert, read the mod description, you shouldnt be using this version anymore, the Marcus Aurelius and Summary version is standalone (with their requisites) and no fix is needed. Follow that version which is actively mantained together with DeI

i have the error "Error: No class key assigned " with the marianique legion i use in this order :
- script fix
- units cards
- Roman Legion
- extravaganza
- Dei 1.5 X supply
- 41 units in armies
- return to glory
- Summary Dei more armies navies and edicts
- Dei Part 1, 2, 3
- Dei Traduction

if someone have an idea if it's a conflict between some mods but i think it's weird or my loading order or anything else

@praetorian, you head to the other version i did for para bellum, i've heard it works with vanilla as well, you can try para bellum too, its a nice overall mod that doesnt deviate too much from vanilla like DeI does
Praetorian Dec 19, 2024 @ 2:51am
Can you use this mode without DeI mode ?
jasper.verbrugghe Dec 4, 2024 @ 1:12pm
I can recruit all legions without the reforms?
Rue Sep 28, 2024 @ 10:34am
Might be a bit selfish but please don't ever change the bullgod style unit cards, I love them! :)

@noniac can I use Rome HD for this mod instead? and also does it work with mod that add Roman unit like https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2911929586?

Somehow my legionaries have transperent torsos and no helmets.... how do I fix this? Does anybody have the same problem?
Centurion Oct 6, 2023 @ 12:43pm
oh i'm still long gone, i opened to software earlier and have no memory of how to use it lmao. Glad i could be an inspiration though, I was still a teen when i did those so that honestly surprises me!

what i mean by the legions is, as in the legion mods I'd published, there were the original 15 Marius reforms ones that were basically principes using the old style shields with legionary art, they'd then get replaced.

then there was the upgrade to use the flat top/rounded side shields, a half way point between the marius reform legionaries and the imperial ones.

I haven't played vanilla in so long that I forgot it completely skipped legions using the pre marius republic era shield that featured in the original caesars legion mod
