Description
{NOTE: This is an upgrade to the original design found here:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1687185187;
designed and tested in the upcoming Desperate Foothold survival mission.}

Configured with hydrogen thrusters and supplemented with an atmospheric thruster boost, Uranium Express has two large cargo containers and four medium cargo containers for carrying the necessary parts and ingots into space to establish a remote uranium and/or platinum refining facility, since those ores are not normally found on planets. Unlike the original design, however, this design recommends a more weight-efficient process of carrying just enough parts for a small cargo container, an advanced assembler, a battery, and 20 light armor blocks for a facility foundation, as well as sufficient refined silver, cobalt, iron, nickel, silicon, and, optionally, gold, to use in the assembler to produce parts for a refinery(ies), reactors, and any other components necessary to produce refined uranium, platinum, or any other materials for use planetside.

The drill arms are enhanced with large connectors and conveyor sorters to collect only ore (and ice) and reject stone. The ship's slim profile allows for tunneling without difficulty.

Changes to the original design include 10 additional atmospheric thrusters to significantly reduce hydrogen consumption during the initial boost phase, additional gyroscopes for better handling, two more drills for 50% higher rate of ore gathering, two additional small reactors and small batteries to handle the additional power requirements, one additional left and right hydrogen thruster for better maneuverability, an extra landing gear for versatility, and one rocket launcher and two gatling guns for defenses in hostile environments.

NO MODS, NO DLC, NO ROTORS/PISTONS; SURVIVAL READY AND PROJECTOR BUILDABLE!

SHIP STATISTICS
- 446 blocks
- 5,944 PCUs
- 62.8 kilotons empty mass
- 150 kilotons maximum gross mass (to make orbit)

1-1-1 SURVIVAL TESTING
Unlike the original design that required 3-3-3 survival to escape a planet's gravity well, this design will make it to space in 1-1-1 survival with a gross mass of 150k. Testing was performed with the three O2/H2 generators full of ice (2.7k each); the cockpit containing the basic tools and weapon, 10X ammo, and an oxygen and hydrogen bottle; and the cargo containers with 720 steel plates, 14 metal grids, 40 interior plates, 150 construction components, 24 motors, 20 small steel tubes, 187 computers, 11 displays, 80 power cells, 8x gatling ammo, 4x rockts, sufficient ingots (1k silver, 1k gold, 2k cobalt, 14.5k iron, 0.3k magnesium, 5k nickel, and 1k silicon), and 35.2k ice. The following thrusters sequence was used for the ascent: start with atmospheric thrusters {6] and main hydrogen thrusters [7]; @1km engage first hydrogen boost thruster bank {8}; @3.5km engage second hydrogen boost thruster bank {9}; @15km disengage second hydrogen boost thruster bank {9}; @23km disengage first hydrogen boost thruster bank {8}. Total remaining ice after hydrogen tank 100% refilled: 17.8k; this was enough hydrogen reserves to scout a good asteroid base location with ice deposits (and possibly other ores) for recharging the hydrogen tank.

Feel free to add them. I didn't ever, nor have I ever used it much on a planet; it's really meant as a get-to-space-and-set-up-a-refinery-complex ship. Once I have the asteroid base up-and-running, I graduate to a dedicated space miner and, back on the planet, to a dedicated planetary miner.

Great vehicle for that first space expedition. Still, could benefit from having atmo thrusters on all sides, would help a lot to maneuver when landing.

"the jack of all trades is the master of none" they said.

They were wrong.
