Pound for pound one of the most entertaining boxers ever to live, one of England's finest competitors ever and a unique phenomenon at Featherweight, Naseem Hamed could do it all; make unforgettable entrances, dazzle opponents and fans in the ring, land crushing power punches and throw light speed combinations.

Born in Sheffield, England in 1974, Hamed was the son of Yemeni parents. Joining Irishman Brendan Ingle's gym at seven years of age, Hamed dealt with racism and biased officials from his youth, and often responded with a harsh, cruel answer against his opposition.

Turning professional in 1992, Hamed crushed a streak of opponents, stopping most of them within a few rounds and winning multiple European level titles along the way. In 1995, Hamed defeated Steve Robinson to become the Featherweight champion and by 1999, had nearly unified all the belts at his weight class. However, a dangerous challenge loomed near in the name of Marco Antonio Barrera. The Baby Faced Assassin was determined to take Hamed down a notch, while the Prince simply saw him as another opponent. This was a mistake. Barrera outboxed Hamed for the entire twelve rounds and handed him a unanimoous defeat in doing so.

It should also be mentioned again here that Hamed had the best entrances in boxing history. Whether he took nearly ten minutes dancing his way down, had elaborate entranceways constructed in his name, was carried down to the ring on a massive throne or, best of all, rode down from the sky on a magic carpet, Hamed gave the audience their money's worth, well before the bell rang.
