Overrated Gear : The infinity

An overview on the unique infinity pistol and why it's not as great as it sets out to be.

The infinity
This is a legendary vladof pistol based on the anarchist (which are a heavily underrated weapon), as to no ones surprise it has infinite ammo and shoots in the pattern of the infinity character "∞" which also lets it avoid the "climb" of rapidly firing. As a vladof pistol it will have a hell of a lot of fire-rate and mid tier damage.
This was actually the first legendary i ever saw drop back in 2012 when i was trash, so i have experience with it.

It's main flaw

Ok, so probably the biggest thing hindering this weapon is it's firing pattern. If you're going to get the most out of you weapons you will want to hit constant critical hits, as you can see it would be quite difficult to do that with this or even land the majority of yours. In this picture you will see the bullet marks on a wall at somewhat close range, even if this doesn't look too bad to your, after moving back a little more it will become stupidly inaccurate.

Some people might make the argument "bUt If It hAS iNFiniTe AmMo It'LL kILL iT EvenTUalLy" which is true but it will kill things slow, even with slag. It becomes even more ridiculous when you can have a lady fist or a harold and 1-2 shot everything anyway.

Inferiority

Another thing which makes this overrated is it's a downgrade to even the purple counterpart to this pistol except with the infinite ammo gimmick. Here i will even compare it to the gemstone counterpart (which like all gemstone weapons, has a passive crit buff. This one being 7.5% multiplicative).


The anarchist is pretty much better across the board except for the mag size (infinite ammo) it may say the infinity has better accuracy but the anarchist will be a lot better since it doesn't have the fire pattern, plus the crit on the anarchist is a very nice multiplicative bonus. When you have a bullet hose gun like these, you want to be hitting every shot and aiming for crits to remedy the low damage, and the infinity just doesn't do that. So you will easily get more dps out of the anarchist, not to mention the other high tier pistols.

Small notes

It's main gimmick, being the infinite ammo doesn't even really matter. Ammo for pistols is extremely abundant and i never run out of it anyway. I don't see how this would be used over other high tier weaponry. Some people run this thing on zero with one shot one kill but you still won't be getting stupid amounts of damage at all considering he's made for burst dps and we have things like the pimpernel

I was actually going to mention that it works as a medigun, but even then you shouldn't really run out of ammo for healing.

I mean, it does have a decent enough niche as a sort of medigun for Maya, given she can never run out of/waste ammo to keep her teammates standing with an Infinity. After that, better options exist for just about anything else.

Funny thing is, even with abusing OSOK a regular Anarchist still puts out more dps.
