The greatest weapon (The Pimpernel)

A guide on the best weapon in Borderlands 2.

Overview

H@*&^ SH!T

This is the pimpernel, it's a Maliwan sniper of the Dahl barreled snider variety. It sports amazing stats all around except for the reload, which is mitigated by At One With The Gun (A Zer0 skill which gives reload speed as well as mag size. Or the other main sniper character being Maya Which uses forsight to do the same.

It comes from the captain scarlett and her pirate's booty DLC which is pretty obvious due to the default prefix being "Captain Scarlett's" and her signature pimpernel decal featured on all her weapons.

The projectile

This is the big thing that makes this weapon stupidly powerful and extremely good utility.
The fired projectile will split on contact to a surface/enemy which will create a second projectile around a metre above the the first (without any projectile speed buffs) which then fans out 5 projectiles in the shape of the pimpernel flower which all have 100% of the card damage with another 50% splash damage. (So you should be aiming for the crotch area)

The splash damage will get buffs from Maya's Reaper skill. But will not get grenade damage buffs

As you can assume, this hands out some stupid damage but it also has another use. A FANTASTIC SLAGGING TOOL
With a matching Maliwan grip the card will list 64.8% status chance, with the multiple pellets and the splash you will have 12 chances of 64.8% status chance, per shot.

ALL PELLETS WILL GAIN THE AMP SHIELD BUFF

B0re, Chain Reaction, and Nth degree

One not thought about thing is the synergy on sinlge target b0re, the projectiles can hit the same hitbox multiple times for even more damage.

B0re, Chain Reaction, and Nth degree don't just re-use the same projectile WHICH IS GOOD as it will create a whole other projectile which will split again.

Obtainability

This is from the Don't Copy That Floppy mission, given by C3n50r807 in Washburne Refinery. Which is a very easy mission to read only farm.

i would also suggest to verify the integrity of your files as well. so you get a fresh .exe

i repeat again, for all those saying UCP doesnt work. it is only BLCMM that doesnt work. if you hex edit your borderlands 2.exe manually it works perfectly.

With the UCP you can get the pimpernil from one of the mini bosses, cant remember which one, but the UCP isnt working. thats how i got mine not even far into the story.

UCP is working perfectly for me. just had to re-hex my exe/

I believe the ucp did remedy it, though the ucp isn't totally usable right now.

ive gotta agree with you there. although it does work wonders, the damage is lackluster. hope one day we can edit the gun damage ourselves.

I will guarantee it will perform better than the storm, i like the weapon and it's gimmick but it's underwhelming.

mainly because it has an amazing synergy with the grog nozzle.
