Introduction
You may ask yourself why should I upload my mods to the Steam Workshop, there are a few reasons for that. One of them is that some people don't like to download stuff from webistes such as ShareMods[www.sharemods.com] or ETS2Mods[ets2mods.lt], another could be that the Steam Workshop will automaticly update mods when the owner/creator of the mod updates the package so no hassle with manually updating mods anymore!

If you're feeling interested or you're already sure you want to upload your mod to the Steam Workshop please continue reading!
Programs You Need
Here is a list of programs you need to get started:

  • Notepad / Notepad++[notepad-plus-plus.org] / Sublime Text 3[www.sublimetext.com]
  • Paintnet[getpaint.net]
  • SCS Workshop Uploader (There is no link later in this guide you will see how to install this.)

How To Get Started
Go to This PC\Documents once there create a new folder called whatever you like I will use example.

Once created go inside your folder and create a new folder called universal

Inside the universal folder paste the files of your mod. In this tutorial I used the files of my Henrik Rasmussen paintjob which you can find here.

If you've done this get back to your example folder or whatever you called it, because it's time to make the versions.sii file. Open your favorite text editor and copy this code:
SiiNunit { package_version_info : .universal { package_name: "universal" } }

Save the file by changing .txt to All Files and name it versions.sii

If everything worked out fine it should look like this:

Downloading The SCS Workshop Uploader
So as described in Programs You Need the SCS Workshop Uploader doesn't have a link, this is because it is dirrectly availible from Steam but not from the Steam Store. So where can you find it then?

  1. Click on Library
  2. In the search bar search for SCS Workshop Uploader
  3. Click the SCS Workshop Uploader to download and install it.
Explanation Of The SCS Workshop Uploader
Here I'll desribe how to use the SCS Workshop Uploader because at first it might seem a bit intimidating. We'll break it down in a few steps.

Take a look at the top left corner. You'll see 2 things Game and Item if you have both American Truck Simulator and Euro Truck Simulator 2 installed please make sure to check if you have the right game.

The second option is Item if you're creating a new mod this should always be on New if you're updating an older mod make sure to check you're updating the right one.

After that will move down a bit more, you'll see Mod Data and Preview Image. First we will use the Mod Data. You will se a line which says Folder a blank box and a button which says Browse, click on Browse and select (in my case) the example folder.

Now it's time for the preview image as the little note under the Preview Image says it should be 640 x 360 pixels with a maximum resolution of 1 MB, It doesn't say it should be JPG but It should be otherwise Steam can't find the right picture.

Now on to the Mod Name, Visibility and Description. First of all the Mod Name this will ofcourse be the name of your mod. After that we have the Visibility, Private means that you're the only person who can see and download the mod. Public means everyone and Friends Only means friends only! After that we have the Mod Description here you can put information about the mod this also supports markdown which you can finde here[modding.scssoft.com].

After that we have the last step on this screen. The Type here you can check boxes that fit your mod, for example if you have made a skin you should check the Other Types, Paintjobs and the brand of the truck. Just check the boxes you think your mod fits in.

If you're ready click the Upload button you will be redirected to this page, click Accept
If you accepted it go back to the SCS Workshop uploader and click Upload again. Wait while Steam is checking the files and you'll get a message that it is succesful!

Where To Find Your Mod
Now hover over your name and select Content. Then go to Workshop Items and youre mod will be there! Here you can edit information, answer questions that were asked in the comments or check the statistics of your mod.

@Cleric, on your steam library where you organize your games, add to the filter “tools” and it’ll show up

@C.L.E.R.I.C. I just checked, for me it's still there? This is the official SCS Software Wiki. Maybe you can find more help here: https://modding.scssoft.com/wiki/Tutorials/SCS_Workshop_Uploader/How_to_download_the_tool%3F

@Swady-Gaming I've been gone from the modding scene for quite a while so I don't know everything anymore. I'm not sure if maps are allowed via the Steam Workshop. Last time i tried you couldn't upload them.
