Description
Wyvernmont is a fictitious region in the mountainous central area of one of the larger continents. Once there were several large lakes fed by multiple mountain streams and rivers, however during the 1960’s, the government of the time, despite many protests, embarked on one of the largest infrastructure projects to be undertaken to open up the area so that its natural resources could be extracted. Rivers were tamed, canals built, allowing large ships to enter the lakes to expedite the pillaging of the land. The inhabitants of the 500 year old alpine village of St Catherine were forcibly removed before the buildings were drowned behind the massive hydroelectric dam.

Game mechanics, infrastructure and resources

Start square is centrally located with sizable harborside build area, good access road and rail transport, with nearby renewal electricity and mineral deposits. Highway network is extensive and will direct cross map traffic around your city.

Water mechanics were challenging at best, hopefully I managed to get all water flowing in the right direction with no dead spots or flooding. I think I’ve hidden most of the water sources from ground level view. It was particularly difficult getting the mountain rapids to no glitch and get the flows right, but combined with the foamy theme, happy with the result.

Unlimited tree mod is most definitely recommended, the tree count is zillions. I may have gone overboard with creation of the numerous forests, along with the variety of trees, but I am happy with the outcome, with different districts of the map having their own forest theme. I hope I listed all the assets I used (although several surface rocks are listed, I'm not which ones I actually used), let me know in the comment if I've missed anything.

For LUT, either the default temperate, Dark Green by creativeDEX, realistic LUT v1.2 by Captain Soap, however I ended up using and stuck with Clerya by creativeDEX.

Thanks to all the custom asset creators, you make this good game great!

Enjoy

Network Extensions 2 and March 2023 update
I haven't done any updates to this map since initial publishing, nor have I tested post March 2023 CS update. I don't intend on doing any further updates, but if you subscribe to this map and it works for you, or it doesn't, or you get it to work with some fixes, I'd appreciate it if you dropped a comment below.

Note this requires NE2, which is now obsolete. Thanks to BonBonB who provided the following links to substitute the missing mod:

Thanks mojoreef. I've made many maps since, but this is still a favorite.

Thanks Alyssa, this has always been one of my favourites and I learnt heaps doing it. Some of your kind comments are applicable to my newest map, which is finished, published, but not made public yet. I've given access to BBB so he can do a review in his own time, as it will likely take longer than his normal 3-4 hour episode preparation for what will become obvious reasons, but no other special treatment, he see's what everyone else will see. So keep an eye out on his channel, I'll coincide making the map public then. Thanks again for a kind comments, glad this map is still bringing joy to city skyliners out there.

Still an excellent map even two years later, and I found it to be excellent for learning techniques for building this style of map, as I have been wanting to do a build like this based on various parts of Oregon. There's so many interesting techniques being used to maintain realism with the limited palette, and yet the shore never felt especially lacking for not having sand, nor did the snowy regions ever seem to suffer from the extremely limited asset use.

I found the map via BonBonB's map reviews, and I found addressing his critiques to be excellent practice for getting to know the map, but I never saw any of the glitching he mentioned even when looking at the exact same locations, though that might be on account of using a different map theme or something. I find that this map looks truly stunning when paired with the Aiguille Verte map theme from ecania .

Thank you so much for the amazing map!

Hi Haninge. Not DLC dependent, see question from forbesyj9 and answer from Fxsxtxr below, clearly they are more an expert than I, but believe it that maybe what you are referring too.

Have this problem that the theme for the map will not load with the map.
Is it any DLC depent?

@forbesy, its a "glitch" with the game. if you select a different map then reselect the map you want the correct theme and the message will go away.

@wellington...awesome map!

BonBonB has done a fantastic review of this map, which gives a great overview and he has been very kind with his scoring. Thank you BonBonB.
