Description
Optional collection for this map for most of the, erm... 'detail' I added around some water features: https://steamcommunity.com/workshop/filedetails/?id=1821727020

This is my first map.

A forested valley mostly closed off from the outside world by a post-glacial lake in the northeast and two mountain ranges on the east and west that converge to the south.

Landforms consist of mountains, hills, valleys, ridges, kames, plains and the terminal and lateral moraines of the glacier that formed the lake (/wiki/Glacial_landform). I think the diversity of land will make this an interesting, if somewhat challenging, place to build upon. I'd be interested in seeing screenshots of people's builds on this map.

4 road/air/ship connections and 3 rail.

You can dam the huge lake near the edge of the 25 tile area for a good amount of power. Water sources toward the 'front' of the lake are there to keep things from overflowing (mostly).

I'm not done with this map, but I think it is in a much more presentable state now.

I suggest turning off shore ruining with Hide It! and either lowering road dummy traffic to 25% of base with Configure Outside Connections or disabling it altogether with Cargo Fix.

Update 08/01/19: Improved the highways. There's still the ridiculous one that goes along the western mountain range, though.

Raised the bed of the rivers and some of the streams. The main river is no longer raging and is much less likely to carve its way to the Earth's mantle within a month. Removed most of the rocks I was using to control water flow and replaced them with terrain changes or water sources. It was stupid of me to try to have only one water source at the head of each water feature.

Lowered much of the coastline in the south.

Moved the ship paths, added a final highway connection on the western end of the northern border.

Tried some 'decorating'. Yeah...

Original heightmap based on Willow Lake in Wyoming. Obviously highly modified as there is no sea in Wyoming.

The theme used in the screenshots is a mix made in the Theme Mixer mod. The last screenshot shows which themes I mixed. Using a different sand/gravel texture will probably be horrifying as I used gravel for the beds of water features.

I used Relight with the LUT 'Relight2 Alpine'

Hahaha, thanks! I had a hard time picking a starting area; let me know if it's terrible.
