Better Civilization Colours

Description
Improves the standardised colour palette provided by the game and amends many jerseys (colour sets) of almost all civilizations. Tries to stay true to vanilla experience while providing a variety of enhancements:

- slight tweaks to existing colors done to remove overlaps between certain colours (blue vs. purple, red vs. dark orange etc.)

- new colors: "Imperial", "Indigo", "Lime" and "Sand", used by Brazil, Scotland, Mapuche, Korea, Japan, Georgia, Nubia, Scythia and certain alternative jerseys for other civs

- underused vanilla colors (Magenta, Aqua) included in many primary and alternative jerseys for better visual variety

- reimagined many of the alternative civ jerseys for better internal consistency, enhanced overall variety and - where possible - improved historical relevancy or accuracy

This mod strives to do its best to circumvent the issues of the jersey system by minimising the amount of colour overlaps and providing many distinct combinations to each civ. Despite all this, it will not completely prevent the issue of running out of dedicated jerseys, with civs sometimes using colours from a generic fallback pool if a very large amount of civs is present on the map. Consider it a mod for the minimalist player.

The mod will be gradually expanded in the future with more colours, new jerseys and fine-tuning to existing ones.

@Valmighty I don't recall correctly perhaps, but it *should* work on an existing game - the only "problem" is that each new game, a civ is assigned a colour set with a number from 1 to 4 at the beginning and that is set in stone, but the *specific colours* within that set are changeable.

In this mod I oftentimes changed the order of colour sets (eg. a set #2 in vanilla is a set #4 in the mod), so after loading the mod, a given civ's colours might change dramatically to the stuff the mod offers. :)

Can we change an already ongoing game? I can't see my own unit emblem with Victoria Age of Steam.

@Juaner34 Thank you, it indeed went missing (I was 100% sure it was there). Reuploaded

I think there's a preview image missing. The first one ends with England, but the second one starts with Mali, so there's a lot of civs missing between those two.

Great Mod.

It has to be said. Your taste for color combinations is sublime! It gives the civilizations a royal appearance. A small mod with a big impact on atmosphere in my opinion. Thank you for toning down the cartoon style of the game a bit!

Could I please suggest a mod that would change the Scythian colour/jersey scheme to yellow and blue?

@Oscis The game remembers your choice of colors - if you picked, for example, jersey #2, the save game will load whatever is in position #2. Newer information is loaded instead of the old, so modded choices will overwrite the ones from base game in this instance.

I assume you installed the mod mid-game, therefore modded colors loaded - which are often different form base game, or are in different positions. Which means, your initial choice of Hojo clan colors - which are #3 in vanilla - got superseded with BCC's #3 which is red and white-gold. BCC has Hojo clan colors at #4, but the game remembers the *position* of the colors in code, and not the colors themselves.

It shouldn't be a problem if you start a game with the mod and don't disable it throughout that particular game.

I appreciated these new colors. Unfortunately, when I loaded a saved game as Hojo (Japan), my color choice of blue and white was changed to red and white. Disabling this mod switched the colors back in that save file. I'm not sure if this mod can change your chosen color after a game has been saved; this is interesting behavior.

I was playing England/Victoria age of steam, and the default red-on-blue was killing me. I couldn't find my units in the jungle! Subscribed to this, loaded my save, and bang! White on Red. Very visible.

+1.
