Isles of Nippon'ia.

Description
provinces: 111 land and 19 sea

A stylised map with inspiration from Japan and the map Valanis from dominions 4. Enjoy.

It features a large cave network with province combinations which are not common on other maps, like cave forests or underwater caves. Another feature is the portal network which connects the world in interesting ways.

This map also features custom events which should be added into the mods folder.

A note with this map is that it sadly lacks a winter overlay, something i'm sorry about but do not plan to add in the future.

I hope you like it and enjoy it, i might make more maps in the future.

I also realized several other problems.
like the above link not working. So i will be fixing that.
I also added site numbers to the map 1504-1506 will be used by the map mod. If that conflicts with your mods you'll have to fix that.

Ooops, found a missed #end command line within the events of this mod.
Either redownload the events mod .dm or go into it and go to the first event mentioning blowing winds.
Add a #end at the end of that event.

This should fix some of the issues i've been having with the Grum Tree.

"Well, Valanis was easily my favorite map from Dom 4, so I'm biased."

Same here. I'm stoked to see this map!

Alright people, as i try to figure out how to make a change not on this entry i can inform you that the special events and sites .dm can now be downloaded via the dropbox link i added in the description.

I do hope you enjoy them.

I enjoy your comments and suggestions, something to think of when i make another map eventually.
I have an interesting idea, but i'm having trouble figuring out how to "code" the special feature on that one.

The idea is a magic site, which can teleport the army which stands there. I planned on having it with the grey connections and a site, but i'm not sure how to get it into the map.
And also how to get the people who subscribe to the map get hold of any special events and the like.

I do like how well received this map has been.
Heck, 1 in 3 people have downloaded it. That's pretty good! :D

this is just our feedback. I'm not asking or expecting the map to be a perfect MP map. In fact I hate such maps anyway. It's your project. You make whatever call you see fit and take our comments as suggestions to consider.

I totally get your points.
116 could be a good position to put the goddess spring, my logic was that the statues base is in province 124.
And the throne on her face is an unfortunate accident.
I however do not know how much the files would be mucked up if i moved the province marker.

Something i'm also worried about is that my custom code will be mucked up if i change the connections.
Sure i can just copy the code, but if the province numbers would change i'd have to do a lot of fixing to get it going again.

I didn't think of the single entryway as a problem when designing the map. Problem is that "lorewise" the gates only lead to one place, since it actually lacks a gate it feels wrong to put several gate exits from each gate.
Had i designed it to be a single gate from the portal plains, i could have connected all the gates to every other gate (something i perhaps should have done, i dunno).

But yes, i will consider these suggestions.

Good map, i like the style and how it feels.
If I could change anything It would be the door access to the bottom half of the map, perhaps connecting it to the temple in the upper right as well, at least so it's not an obvious tact to where you could simply take the lower grounds and beef up from there making it a 1 point entry zone as it currently is.
