Don't Drop It - Soap Bar Locations

Hello there, This is a guide to all the locations of the soap bars for the "Don't Drop It" Achievement.

Forward Note:
You simply need to pick up the soap bar in each level, don't have to do anything with it, you can easily just pick it up and toss it away, preferably at an enemy . You can also level select after you find/pick up the soap bar (If you don't feel like playing the rest of the level) and the credit towards the achievement still counts.

This guide assumes you're already, semi-familiar with the game's levels, and can relatively easily find, say, one of the keys, or a particular area inside of said level.
Also, it will include some spoilers of certain things like the secret level(s), or things about some of the game's later levels.

I recommend to also open a text doc (or grab a piece of paper and a pen if you're going for the old school approach) to keep track of the bars you've found, in the footnotes I've included a template checklist you can use if needed. Each level is split into it's own chapter of the guide, so you can also use that to keep track of your progress as well if you're not wanting to take down notes.

Without further ado, Let's get started.

E1M1 - Head Cheese

The first bar of soap is located on the 2nd floor of the starting house, next to the toilet (and Indirectly, next to 2 Cultists/Mages).

A fun side note: You can actually flush the soap bar(s) down any toilet, but it's not necessary for the achievement.

E1M2 - Down on the Farm

Like the first level, the bar of soap here is located on the 2nd floor bathroom of the farm house, this time sitting in the shower.
To access the secret level of this episode, go to this building:
-and flip this switch, which opens up the entrance to the secret exit.
Then, return to the start of the level, and use a prop (a box, barrel, crate, etc.) to jump up onto the cornfield:
This leads to a secret area (Use "e" on the trapdoor.):
When inside, on your left, is the tunnel leading to the secret exit to E1MS: The Dim Slough.

E1MS - The Dim Slough

From the secret exit of the last level, navigate through the level as normal, locate this shack with some Leathernecks outside of it:

Dive into the water, follow the water all the way to a secret area with the yellow key (This is needed for the soap later.).
Next, find the drainage pipe, and follow it to the yellow door room:

Go through the door, kill the Mage, and on your left further inside the room, there is a panel on the wall you can open:
-that leads to the secret area with the hollowed health, the bar of soap is located right next to the hollowed health.

E1M3 - Old Time Religion

Navigate this level like normal, and once you drop into the crypt full of rats, there's an alcove on the left with the bar of soap up inside of it.

E1M4 - Steamworks

This is a pretty easy one, the soap bar is on top of some barrels, right at the start of the level.

E1M5 - Sawdust

Go left from the start point, down the mountain:
-and hop inside of the open boxcar (you may need to use a box, or crouchjump up into here), the soap bar is up on top of a small crate.

E1M6 - The Cutty Mine

Use some explosives (a gas can, the riveter, etc.) to blow open this crackled wall near the level entrance:
This leads to a secret area, when inside, jump into the water:
Follow it down to another secret with a hallowed health, the soap bar is right next to the health.

E1M7 - Dead of the Night

Again, like the first level, the bar of soap is located in the 2nd floor bathroom, in the house next to where you find the ethereal crossbow (It's in the shower, yet again).

E1M8 - Through the Gate

After finding the red key in this level, go through the red key door, the soap is on top of a shelf on your left.

E1M9 - Ghost Town

After clearing out some enemies, blast open the cracked wall here:
This leads to a secret area with a rat. After killing the rat, there's another wall that can be blasted open on your left:
This leads to a hidden bathroom, the bar of soap is on top of the toilet.

E1M10 - Creations

In the room with the keypad(s) in it, on the back wall on your right, there's a secret panel on the wall that opens, revealing the last bar of soap for Episode 1.

E2M1 - The Granary

Make your way across the firing zone, and make your way up to the granary proper, then, blow up these two cars in this garage:
The soap bar is underneath (what used to be) the two cars.

E2M2 - The Unseen

After going through most of the level and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ a brick , kill all the enemies in the large gauntlet area:
then, on top of one of the platforms in the back of the room, the soap bar is on top of one of the platforms:
You can shoot the platform (it breaks) to get the soap to fall down if you don't feel like jumping up and grabbing it.

E2M3 - Into The Thresher

Proceed through the level, and make your way into the large, Open area:
After clearing out all the enemies, look for this wall:
The odd looking panel on the wall there opens, leading down to a secret area.
In this secret area, flip this switch:
-to open the second secret room, that houses the soap bar.

A minor side note: There's a tiny little dopefish in the corner of this secret room (you may have to zoom in w/ the hunting rifle to see it better)

E2M4 - The Infernal Machine

Inside this level, navigate through and locate the blue key, then proceed through the blue key door:
Go through this passage, and clear out the room of enemies.
In the corner of the first area, behind some barrels, is a button:
Press this to open a secret area, the bar of soap is on top of a large crate inside of the secret area.
To reach the secret exit of this Episode, go to the very end of the level, and use explosives to blow open this wall:
This leads to a secret area with some enemies:
After defeating them, navigate to the very back of the room, and press this button:
The teleporter nearby the button takes you back to the drop chute before the end area. Instead of dropping back down, turn around and go through this passage:
This leads down to another secret area, with a breakable floor. Use some explosives to blow open the floor:
-and drop down. There's a pipe here that used to be barred up, go through it, This is the secret exit to E2MS: The Foundry.

E2MS - The Foundry

After navigating most of the level, look for the room with the fans:
Then, drop down onto the side of the fan (so you don't fly upwards, or fall into the lava), and turn around:
There's a secret area here with a hallowed health and some other goodies,
Don't take the teleporter yet, instead, go through this small passage on the left (quickly):
Inside of here is (luckily) a secret area w/ a lavasuit and some other things, the bar of soap is sitting on the "ground" inside of this secret room.
Make sure to grab the soap quickly, as it's relatively hard to get back to this area without a lavasuit.

E2M5 - The Escher Labs

Yet again, proceed through the level as normal, then, enter this room:
Push the button, and watch out for the ambush behind you, once the ambush is dispatched, go through the doorway that opens up behind you, into the room full of beakers:
The soap bar is on one of the tables on your right.

E2M6 - The Erebus Reactor

This bar is actually quite tricky to get to, it's up on top of one of the pylons (a not very accessible one at that):
Use one of the fans to climb up to the large catwalk surrounding the reactor:
Once up here, you've got a couple of options on how to get up on top of the reactor pylon.

You can jump on the supports connected to the pylons nearby, and navigate up to this point:
-and attempt a technical rocketjump with the riveter (have to do a bit of a wallclimb with it).
This can be kind of hard to pull off, so make sure to save before attempting this (or any of the other methods, really).

A second viable option, if you have enough ammo for the ethereal crossbow, is to crossbow jump up (Jump, and continously the fire crossbow down at your feet, similar to Force-A-Nature jumping.).
And finally, there's an option if you're familiar with propclimbing (putting a prop below you, then mashing E + space), you can attempt to propclimb with something like this barrel to gain some height, then jump over to the pylon.
Whichever method you choose, the bar of soap is up here next to a hallowed health.

E2M7 - Neobabel

Go through this level as you normally would, and obtain the blue key on the roof of the main lab building:
Proceed inside, then push this button:
This triggers an ambush in the room behind you.
Clear out all the enemies, then go down these stairs that open up on the right:
At the bottom of the stairs, there's a grate overlooking the void. Up on the wall next to the grate, there's a secret switch that opens one of the smokestacks behind the main skylab building.
Go back outside, and navigate to the back of the building (the side near the yellow key door.)
In the newly opened smokestack, there's a climbing thing, grab this, then run over to the yellow key building, and scale up one of the pillars to the roof
Once up here, climb up one more level, and the soap bar is up here, on the very top of the roof.

E2M8 - Blood and Bone

Shortly after exiting the starting room, turn left before the yellow doorway:
There's a secret here over here. Climb up onto the roof of the starting building:
The bar of soap is up on top of the building, over by the secret area.

E2M9 - The Dig

The bar of Soap for this level is right at the end, so advance through this level like normal.
After defeating the 3 Bosses at the end,
You can open this backwall of the arena, leading to a secret room, and the bar of soap.

E2M10 - The Gauntlet

Right after you start the level, look to this pipe to the right of the stairs:
There's a secret up here, and also a hidden panel that opens on the back wall, leading to the last bar of soap for Episode 2.

You may need to rocket jump or to crossbow jump to get up here.

E3M1 - The Iron Cathedral

Proceed through the level as normal, and at the bottom of the stairs that lead to the large ambush room (The place where you collect the red key), lies the soap bar:

E3M2 - Fire and Ice

Yet again, Proceed through the level as normal, and obtain the blue key, and go through the blue key door:
In the stairwell after you go through the door, the soap bar is on top of a large wood plank on the wall:

E3M3 - City of Shadows

The soap bar here is on top of one of the tallest houses in town:
You can get up onto it with one of the fans if you jump just right, otherwise, rocketjump/crossbow jump up to it.

E3M4 - Crypt Of The Flesh

Oh boy, another spooky level.

Advance through the level as normal, then, after you retrieve your flashlight and go through the yellow door again, look in the alcove on your left:
There's a button here you can press, this opens the entrance to this Episode's secret level:
Inside, the soap bar is in one of the alcoves on the right:
You can also proceed down the stairs into the secret level if you'd like (E3MS: The Ratacombs).

E3MS - The Ratacombs

Welcome to rat hell.
Obtain the red key, then go through the red key door and make a left, you should see a small room w/ a campfire and a small puddle of water.
On your right, there's a secret passage that leads to the yellow key, go through it, then, in between two of the bookshelves is a button, press it.
This opens a secret area behind you:
Go through here, then turn right, the bar of soap is up in the alcove right here:

E3M5 - Blasphemy

The bar of soap on this level is pretty easy to find, it's on a barrel out in the open, behind the church:
It's pretty far out in the open, next to the edge.

Make sure to grab this bar before the Tornado comes through, otherwise the soap bar may become unobtainable I.e, flung into the fleshy abyss.

E3M6 - Brimstone Ghetto

This one's also pretty easy, just drop down from the starting platform:
-Then clear out the garbage dumpster, the soap bar is hidden underneath a garbage bag.

E3M7 - Homecoming

This level can get kind of disorienting, but proceed through it as you usually would, until you reach the house Duskguy/dude finds "familiar".
The bar of soap should be in the bathroom, however it can get flung around when you transition from ceiling to ceiling, so it may be strewn about somewhere else in the room.

E3M8 - As Above, So Below

Proceed through most of the level, and after you leave the room where everything is huge, descend down these stairs:
The soap bar is at the bottom, nestled inside of a tiny little house:
There's also a secret area to be found with this soap bar, but i'll let you find where that is.

E3M9 - The Dweller in Darkness

This one is also pretty easy, it's at the start of the level, right next to the... weird, wireframe tree thing, right before you enter the teleporter to THE PAIN GAUNTLET :

E3M10 - Dusk

And finally, the last soap bar in the game is located in the cabinet next to the Yellow Gem of Offering (in the house area):

Okay. LSB is on the right, and there are 12 bits for each episode.

Basically, if the value for epX_soap is 2248, it converts to 100011001000, meaning that map 1, 5, 6 and 9 are cleared.

If you don't want to guess which levels you need soap on, fire up Steam Achievement Manager, open DUSK, and under ep1/2/3_soap, you will find a decimal representation of the soap you unlocked.

Convert each value to binary. 1 corresponds to each unlocked soap, and 0 for locked. Whether it's MSB or LSB I am not sure, I will comment again once I make sure.

This is also the case for episode completion. ep1/2/3_completion is the same thing, just for the True 100% achievement.
