Description
HUNGARY (STEPHEN I)
Unique Trait: Apostolic Majesty
Clearing Barbarian Encampments grants Faith. Spending Faith converts nearby cities to your main Religion and triggers a 'We Love the King Day' based on the number of existing followers in that city.

Unique Unit: Oathsman
The unique Oathsman is Hungary's replacement for the Horseman under Stephen I. This unit is spawned whenever a Barbarian Encampment is cleared, beginning with bonus XP based upon the Level of the Unit that cleared it. It does not require Horses, meaning Hungary can easily muster a powerful mounted force during the early game.

Unique Building: Vegvar
The Vegvar is the Hungarian replacement for the Castle under Stephen I. Like the Castle, the Vegvar boosts a city's Defensive Strength and Hit Points. In addition, the Vegvar decreases the amount of Food a city needs to increase in size by 10%. It also claims a new Tile for the city whenever a new Citizen is born. Finally, if enemy units are near or within the borders of a city with a Vegvar, they will 5 damage per turn. However, the Vegvar costs 2 Maintenance.

  • The Vegvar attrition damage now applies to enemy units within 4 tiles of your borders (the original attrition effect didn't really work since other civs can't inherit unique buildings).
  • Corrected the strategy text to say the Vegvar costs 2 maintenance not 1.
  • Removed a redundant effect wherein having a Vegvar would boost your Unit's movement speed in your borders.
  • Fixed issue with the Oathsman being spawned from clearing Barb camps not working.
  • Conversion from spending Faith is now set to 33% of other city's population rather than 100%. However, the range of cities that can be affected has been extended.
  • Buffed up Stephen's willingness to denounce other civs as well as his boldness and meanness.
  • Update Civ and Alpha icons thanks to DarthKyofu.
  • Changed CulDiv soundtrack to Papal.
  • Added missing FreeStartEra and DisplayPosition tags for the UB.
  • Replaced alert message with notification for clarity when certain effects take place.
  • Various text, supports, and code standardizations/optimizations.
  • Fixed black outlines on Civ Icon and Unit Flag alphas (where applicable).
  • Fixed issue where the ambience in the leaderscene overwrote the music (where applicable).

On the 29th turn AI has just out of the blue spawned gazilions of oathsmen and founded a religion.

As others have said, Oathsmen look to be bugged, at least in terms of them not spawning when barb camps are cleared. Horseback Riding is unlocked and I've tried with multiple saves, but no luck.

what?! it's bugged for me as well, but it grants hungary HUNDREDS of units!! the map was completely flooded with oathsmen and no one could move. eventually i got on his bad side and he slaughtered me

I believe this one is bugged. Oatshemen do not spawn automatically when camps are cleared, not even when I have Horseback Riding. Spending faith in a holy city removes its holy city status, even for your own holy city. I also had a weird bug with caravans spawning for free until I had more than 30. It said 30/9 in the UI.
