Crosshairs Fix

Fixes the crosshairs to actually be representative of your spread.

Note: Does not alter spread in any way. Only changes crosshairs.

In vanilla crosshairs are a static size on your screen not accounting for your custom FOV. They also don't account for some other math related to 2d projection of a 3d space (i.e. your monitor).
As you can see from the images this mod makes it so the crosshairs show the same (and correct) amount of spread regardless of your set FOV. (Example images are 120 and 45)

Warning: Very likely incompatible with other crosshair mods. Willing to work on compatability however.

More in depth explanation: What vanilla specifically does is assume that 15° of spread is equal to 228 pixels of spread on a 1080p monitor. This ignores that the pixels of spread will change depending on your field of view.

It also assumes that 5° of spread will be equal to 228/3 pixels of spread. This ignores that degrees and pixels aren't a linear relation since it's a 3d space being projected to a 2d image.

Mod makes crosshairs scale using the tangent function as 1080 * tan(spread/2)/tan(fov/2) to get a radius to place the crosshairs away from the center of the screen. Math is similar to my customizable sensitivity mod: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1498189723

No bug without the mod. How it works in the stock game is you get a normal crosshair. If you are holding a repeater pistol and hold down F, you won't notice any difference because the crosshair is the same size for both. With the mod activated the crosshair initially shows the (correct) size for the pellet spray but immediately shrinks down to regular crosshair size. I think there is room for improvement there, you may be able to have the crosshair stay open at the right size to aim the pellets if you have pellets enabled. Otherwise it would just show an accurate crosshair like handgun if you have the double-ball talent since that attack is perfectly accurate. It would also be nice if you could change the crosshair graphic to the bracket-and-dot that the other shotgun type weapons use if your ult includes pellets. I think those weapons use curved brackets instead of dashes because they look better when the crosshair is rectangular.

Does the bug occur without the mod too?

Small bug with the BH ult. If you have it set to ball and shot, or double shot the crosshair doesn't properly show the spread for the pellets. It displays the proper cone of fire at first, but then the crosshair shrinks down to pinpoint accurate. I think it should only do that if you have double ball loaded with no pellet spray.

I don't have that mod active tho. And yours is the only one clearly not working. The crosshair hasn't changed. No idea what other info to give.

That ID is the "More Hats" mod: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1391113873

Unrelated to mine. You usually get that error when you start the game without loading unsanctioned mods. (e.g. more hats)

any tips would be greatly appreciated. The default is crosshair is driving me insane :)

Do you know what number the ID is? Is it the same every time?
SNAAAKE Dec 23, 2018 @ 3:38pm
Every time i load this mod i get this error:

[ModManager][error] Trying to load mod with steam ID '##########', Not in downloaded list.

I have tried uninstalling everything and only used the crosshair fix. Still get the same error.

@Stygian Emperor when I load both, my custom crosshair from Crosshair Customization gets overwritten.

Seems to work just fine with Crosshair Customization. Great mod!
