Pawns Paint! Restored

Pawns Paint! Restored is a variation/continuation of the amazing Pawns Paint! by WillieLambo. When Willie was unable to continue updating it, I really missed it in my games so I made a version for my own personal use. After getting Wille's approval, I'm now sharing it on the Workshop for all to enjoy!

The only major difference between my version and Willie's is that I changed the paintings to be all real-life public domain paintings.

Don't like the paintings? Or want to add/remove some?
You can change them! They are located in the following folder on your hard drive:
<Steam installation location>\SteamApps\workshop\content\294100\1503685494\Textures\Things\Building\Art

If you'd like to make your own paintings, you can download templates[github.com] that were made with paint.net and Photoshop. All of the paintings that get loaded into a game are located in your local "Painting" folder, so you can add or remove them in there.

If you want Wille's paintings back, download and unzip this file[github.com], delete the "Painting" folder on your computer, and paste the new "Painting" folder in its place.

Possible future features
  • Rotatable easels and paintings
  • Wall-mounted paintings
  • Larger paintings
  • World peace

  • All credit goes to WillieLambo for making this wonderful mod. I just updated it.
  • ThirdEye for the Simplified Chinese translation.

The description for the original mod is below:

Let your colonists paint!
Paintings give beauty and lets pawns look at them for joy.

This mod lets your colonists build an easel and make paintings from cloth and wood.
Colonists paint whatever they feel like, and sometimes it's some weird *#@!.

The paintings are unfortunately not rotatable, which is a shame. I've tried and tried to make it work but having both random textures and make it rotatable doesn't seem possible.

Currently on version Beta 18!! ---
Beta 18 link (big thanks to Jibbles for the files!):
Alpha 17 link:
Alpha 16 link:

The idea is that every painting is randomized from a folder full of paintings.
If you have any ideas for paintings or balancing suggestions, please let me know.

If you want to add/remove custom paintings, this is the directory,
Paste this in your windows search:
Your harddrive:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\workshop\content\294100\917248300\Textures\Things\Building\Art

...And smash that subscribe button!

@Natalo77 Do you mean are there any other mods this is incompatible with? None that I'm aware of.

Any Hard incompatibilities?

The errors that Zaltys found should now be fixed with this latest update. If they aren't, let me know.

@Cort It's on the list of possible future features. The original creator said that he didn't think it was possible but I'm planning to look into it when I have some time. I know for sure that I'd have to create images for the side and back views of the paintings and easel, which isn't a quick process when you're not much of graphic artist. :P

TL;DR I hope to figure out how to do it some day, but it's not something I can whip up quickly.

Love the mod! Just got a little bit of a request, would it be a lot of work to let the easel and paintings be rotated? I know if they're rotated the painting itself won't be visible but I'm okay with it as long as I can design my art rooms a bit more easily!

@Zaltys That's very good to know and I never noticed because I have this mod very close to the end of my mod order. Thanks for letting me know about it, I'll fix sometime in the next week or so.

Couple of compatibility errors: https://i.imgur.com/QRO5MPX.jpg

Core abstracts became inheritable a few updates back, and modern mods should no longer overwrite those. It's advisable to use unique abstract names that can't be accidentally used by other mods.

The first one is especially problematic because it uses the old version of vanilla BenchBase, which is missing quite a few things. Such as default thingCategories, and Mass. So any mod that loads after this one and tries to use that base will output errors.

I'd recommend just deleting the redefined abstract, and letting it to be inherited from the core.

You are the best, truly! This was kind of a big deal because cotton is tough to achieve in the early game, and VG support really helps!

Sorry it took me so long to get around to this, but I've changed the cloth requirement to allow any type of fabric (so things like linen but not leather). Let me know if you have any issues with it, folks.
