Introduction
This guide will provide you with information and instructions on how you can create and manage your own Dota 2 guild. It will also go into detail about the other various options available to you as a guild leader and standard member.

The Guild System unites communities allowing their members to easily find an in-house party to play with. It provides features such as open invites, guild chat and more.

Creating a Guild
To create a Guild, click on the Community button located at the top of the Dota 2 Main Menu.

On the Community page, select the arrow button underneath the My Guilds category on the left side of the page.

Once you've clicked on the arrow button the Guild Selection screen will appear. This screen will display any guilds you're currently a member of. You can be a member of four different guilds simultaneously, including any you create yourself.

To create your own guild click on the Create New Guild button located at the bottom of the menu.

You'll then be asked to fill in a few bits of information before you can form your guild. The Full Name field is the name of your guild. It's globally unique, and nobody else can form a guild with the same name as yours. Once your guild is formed, the name cannot be changed, and it will be unusable again even if the guild has disbanded. The Guild Tag/Abbreviation field is a shortened version, or clan tag for your guild. It will be displayed on in-game lobbies, scoreboards and the in-game HUD.

You're also able to import a Guild Logo which will be used in all UI elements. The imported image will be scaled down to 250 x 150 pixels.

When you're ready to form your guild click on the Create button located at the bottom of the screen. Once the guild is formed you'll get a confirmation popup.

If you return to the My Guilds section on the Community page, you'll now see your newly formed guild on the list.

Inviting Players
To invite a player to your guild, click on their name from the Friends section on the Main Menu or through any chat channel in the game, such as Party or Regional. You don't need to be friends with the player on Steam to invite them to your guild.

Once you've clicked on their name click on the Invite to Guild option. In my example it displays "Invite to Guild ^BBB" as ^BBB is what I chose for my guild abbreviation.

You'll then get a confirmation box asking if you're sure you want to invite them to your guild. Select Yes to confirm the invite.

Once you've invited the player, they will receive a popup box letting them know they have been invited to your guild.

Once they have joined the guild you'll be able to see them on the Member List section on the left side of the Community page underneath the My Guilds category.

Member List
From the Member List section you're able to see a complete list of everybody in your guild. From this page you're also able to Remove somebody from your guild, or promote them to a higher rank.

To remove somebody, click on the arrow button to the right of their name and select the Remove from Guild option on the drop down menu.

Before this action can be completed, you'll need to confirm your selection by clicking Yes on the popup window.

From the same drop down menu you can also choose Promote to Officer. Promoting a player to Officer will give them the ability the invite members to the guild. They are also able to remove lower ranked players.

If a player is promoted to an Officer, you can demote them by clicking on the drop down menu again. You're also given the ability to promote them to Guild Leader.

With every promotion and demotion selection you'll need to confirm your choice before they take effect.

Guild Info
The Info section will allow you set a Guild Message that will be visible to anybody who joins your guild. This could include a description for your guild, Mumble/Teamspeak information, or just a random quote; whatever you like can go in this field. To add a message click on Edit next to the Guild Message section.

You're also able to change your guild logo from this page by clicking on the Edit Logo button.

If a player has been invited to your guild and they haven't accepted or declined yet, the invite can be viewed by clicking on the View Invites button. This will display a screen with any pending invites with information such as who invited them and when.

Clicking the X icon to the right of the invite will cancel the pending invite.
Guild Parties
Guild Members can form a Guild Party which is an open invitation group for match making. To form a Guild Party click on the Open Party to Guild button underneath your experience bar on the Main Menu.

Once you've clicked the button you'll see a list of every guild you're currently a member of. Click on Select next to the guild you want to extend your party invitation to. You're also able to place a description which will be visible to your guild members browsing for guild games.

Once you've opened up the party to guild members, the text underneath your experience bar will now read that the Party is Open to the guild. At anytime you want to remove the open inviation you can click on Cancel. Cancelling the open inviation will not remove any guild members who joined before you cancelled it.

If there is an open invitation, guild members will see a notification on the Main Menu of Dota 2 letting them know that guild members are looking for players for their game.

Once they click on Find Guild Party they will be taken to the Guild Party Finder screen. This screen will list any open invitation guild parties that they are a member of. They can then click Join Party next to the group they want to join.

Additionally, if guild members have formed a private lobby, other members of the guild will be able to see it by going to Play at the top of the Main Menu and then selecting Find a Lobby. From this screen they can then choose Guild Lobbies to view any open lobbies formed by fellow guild mates.

Guild Chat
On the Main Menu within the Chat panel, members of your guild will see your guild chat room. This tab can be identified by the guild name abbreviation and a G icon at the top left of the tab.

Members of the guild who load Dota 2 will automatically be entered into the chat room.

Game Options
Within the Dota 2 Settings there are some game options which allow you to customize your interaction with your guilds.

To access the Dota 2 Settings click on the cog wheel icon at the top left of the Main Menu.

  • Guild Party Invites

This option will give you the ability to turn off party invites from other guild members. Having this selected to All will allow guild members to send you party invites and setting it to Just Friends will prevent them. By default this is set to All.

To access this option click on the Game tab at the top of the Settings page.

At the bottom left of this page you'll find the option.

Disbanding and Leaving
As the Guild Leader, you can disband your guild by going to the Info section. At the bottom of the page there is an option which says Disband Guild. This will only display if there are no members currently in your guild.

If you click this button you'll get a confirmation popup asking you if you're sure you want to disband your guild. This action cannot be reversed, and once you've disbanded the guild you'll be unable to reuse the guild name.

Once you click Yes the guild be disbanded.

If there are still players in your guild, or if you're a regular member, instead of the Disband Guild button you'll see an option called Leave Guild.

Once the button is clicked you'll be asked to confirm your selection.

If you leave the guild as the Guild Leader, you'll be prompted to promote somebody to leader before you'll be able to leave.

The Future
This is just the start of Guilds in Dota 2. The system will be expanded upon in the future to allow for things such as a weekly leaderboards (top GPM etc), featured guild games and even later down the line systems such as in house leagues and more.

In an upcoming update you'll be able to see a list of guild member games and feature guild matches on your guild profile. Currently the options are grayed out. Below is an in-development screenshot of what you might expect this feature to look like.

I will do my best to update this guide as the guild system expands with future updates. For previews regarding upcoming changes be sure to check out Cyborgmatt's Blog[www.cyborgmatt.com].
