[Important Note - Update 1-16-2023]
This mod only works properly in Single Player. Some features do not work in multiplayer and full multiplayer support is planned but I really can't say when I will be able to finish it.

At very least, the mod should not crash dedicated servers and has limited functionality.

Multiplayer: If dropped from inventory, smoke grenades and flares will act as they should. Hand Grenades will not explode or cause damage, Proximity Mines will explode but will not cause damage , Flashbang Grenades and EMP Grenades will play particles but may not affect anything in the world.

Multiplayer: Grenades and flares can not be thrown by the player. If you attempt to do so, the grenade or flare will spawn in at your location and play it's particles for the local player, but will not have any physics or gravity, can not be moved and can not be picked up, destroyed or otherwise interacted with. It will likely not be visible to other players and any physical effects such as damage from explosions, player being stunned by flash bang grenades etc will not happen on the server. The grenade or flare will despawn when it's particle effect is done.


Update 4/29/2022: This mod currently does not work properly with the updated Water Mod.

[General Description]
This mod adds player hand grenades,colored smoke grenades, colored emergency flares, oxford commas, and a few other throwable items to Space Engineers.

[Important Note]
Grenades, flares, smoke grenades, etc. are treated as floating objects in the game. They are automatically removed from the world when their time is up. For best results, increase floating object count in game settings. The more objects allowed the better depending on your system abilities. Also please remember that if there are too many floating objects, the game with remove some of them. Also the game's trash removal system may remove them if they are too far away.

Fixed errors from update 1.194
The mod is working again with a few bugs. EMP Grenades and Flash Bang grenades particle effects are incorrectly playing and have lost their sounds.
Smoke particles transparency doesn't work well with the new weather effects
I will continue to look into this but at least the majority of it is working.

Right now development of mod in Multiplayer is on hold. I wasn't able to get it working properly. You can try it but expect there to be major bugs.

- Improved Particles.
- Particles are now affected by light.
- Added a random rotation to grenade trajectory.
- Reduced light flare range to 15m.
- Added "Practice Grenade" (Ctl + U)

- Improved throwing of grenades from moving character. Characters velocity is now added to the grenade.
(Smoke particles will still look strange on fast moving ships due to the way the particle system works.)
- Limited rate of fire to once per second to reduce grenade spamming.

Updated icon textures thanks to Stollie. A few are still missing but most of them are there.

Multiplayer Update - Mod should no longer crash DS. Multiplayer support is still in development.
Known Issue: In DS, grenades can not be thrown, grenades can not be picked up by players once thrown.
Damage does not occur in Multiplayer.

EMP Grenades disable terminal blocks in their area of effect by turning them off. They also disable rotors by setting their torque to 0.

After a 2 second arming delay, proximity mines will explode when a Player is within 5 meters

This mod is in development and may have a few bugs or issues.
Please rate and comment, I have limited time to mod and the more popular a mod is, the more likely I am to improve it.

Controls
-----------

There are several different colors of flare grenades and smoke grenades.
The mod will use the first of each type of grenade found in your inventory (i.e if red smoke grenade is found before, green smoke grenade, the red one will be used). Re-order grenades in your inventory to change tytpes.

To throw an explosive hand grenade, press CTL + G.

To throw a Flash Bang grenade, press CTL + N.

To throw a Flare grenade, press CTL + F.

To throw a Smoke grenade, press CTL + T.

To throw an EMP grenade, press CTL + R.

To throw a Proximity Mine, press CTL + E.

To throw a Practice Grenade, press CTL + U.

Pressing Shift along with one of the above will cause the grenade to be lightly tossed instead of thrown.

Known Issues
-------------------

Multiplayer support is still in development.
Known Issue: In DS, grenades can not be thrown, grenades can not be picked up by players once thrown.
Damage does not occur in Multiplayer.

Grenades always destroy armor blocks if they are close enough regardless of the damage applied. This is not intended and is built into the ModAPI Explosions. Without writing my own explosion class, I can not fix this. I may get to that at some point but it is not officially planned.

There is a bug in Keen's code causing particles that should not be lit, to become lit between 30 and 80 meters from the camera. Particle lighting works between 0 and 30 meters, and works beyond 80 meters. Hopefully Keen will fix the root cause.

There are no animations.

There are no sounds for flares burning or grenades smoking.
There are explosion sounds. Explosions sounds are arcade sounds and not realistic sounds.

Explosive grenades will no longer explode when being spawned into the world with the F10 menu, but flares and other particle based grenades will play their effects. This will also happen if they are dropped from inventory or in a container that is destroyed. The best way to add grenades to your inventory is to spawn them into a container or make them in an assembler.

When thrown, an explosive grenade becomes a "Live Grenade", if a player picks up a live grenade or it is put into a container, it should still explode but does not. Live Grenades in inventory do nothing.(I've not yet implemented this functionality)

Grenades now disappear from the world once used. Also if there are used grenades in the world when saved, they will play their particle effects when the save is loaded so you probably don't want to leave a bunch laying around.

If you are in a cockpit, grenades can still be thrown but will be ejected straight up. Be careful if you are in a flight seat inside a large ship or you may end up tossing grenades on your head. This behavior will probably be changed in the future when a block version is added.

Also keep in mind that if you are in a cockpit, the F key will eject you from the cockpit so you won't be able to throw flares without leaving the cockpit.

Some of the icons may not match their items, Icons were added to help distinquish the grenade types and colors but they need work. If anyone cares make some icons I may add them.

Your statement shows a complete lack of understanding of what the modding community even is. I am disappointed that you are so spoiled and privileged that you do not understand this..

Modders do not earn a Salary. Some have Patreon. All do it out of love for the the game and wanting to see something added to it.

Unfortunately my understanding of the multiplayer system is lacking, that is the main reason that this mod is not multiplayer. As far as I can tell, it's not doing anything that can not be done in multiplayer so hopefully I will learn how multiplayer works. I have a lot of additional features in an experimental version, but I just don't have the time to maintain any more mods right now. Some of those features may make their way into this version though or I may just publish it eventually.

I still have a lot of fun with it in single player, but I agree the lack of multiplayer support keeps this mod from really taking off.

I came for the throw-able Oxford Comma and was sorely disappointed. I feel tricked, scammed, and quite possibly bamboozled.

(Just Kidding)

I wouldn't know how to code it, but I think it would be hilarious if the last grenade thrown (but only if 2 or more were thrown immediately prior) was a comma.

No worries NumberFive, just wanted to make sure it wasn't me. Take the time you need. Always thought this mod filled a nice role and the game would be missing something without it.

Darian and Justin, the mod is broken as of last update(1.194). Keen has made changes to the API. Unfortunately I do not know when it might be fixed but I do intend to try to fix it.
