Bubba Ray Dudley

One half of one of the most decorated tag teams of all time, the Dudley Boys / Team 3D, and the one who became a breakout star in his own right, as Bully Ray. Bubba Ray Dudley came to prominence as Buh Buh Ray, a member of the Dudley Family, a stable of redneck brothers from Dudleyville. Initially becoming popular as a comedy act, Buh Buh turned on the rest of his family to join with D-Von -- his half-brother, who had come in as a foe of the rest of his family -- along with Big ♥♥♥♥ Dudley, Sign Guy Dudley, and ECW ring announcer Joel Gertner. The group called themselves the Dudley Boyz, and became a notorious threat to the major tag teams of ECW -- holding the title a record eight times -- and an enemy of the ECW crowd, who they heckled to the point of near violence on a regular basis.

Ray and D-Von joined the WWF in 1999, where they quickly became hated heels and rivals of the Hardy Boyz, and Edge and Christian. During his first couple of years in the WWF, Bubba Ray was known for attacking the women's roster, putting everyone from Terri and Lita to Mae Young through tables using a top-rope powerbomb. Given that this was the 90s/early 2000s, this managed to get him -- and D-Von -- over as babyfaces, though they would often change alignments throughout the years. Although WWE experimented with splitting the team up, the splits rarely stuck for long.

WWE fired the Dudleys in 2005 and, due to the legal rights to the Dudley Boyz gimmick lying in their hands, the duo were refused the right to their old ring names. As a result, during their time in TNA, New Japan, and All Japan Pro Wrestling, they were known as Team 3D: Brother Ray and Brother Devon. They would remain a team until 2010, when Ray turned on Devon and became known as Bully Ray, a gimmick he would use whenever he would focus on singles action in both TNA and Ring of Honor. Originally aligning himself with the mega-stable Immortal, Ray would turn face, then once more heel, revealing himself to be the ringleader of Aces and Eights, a stable themed after a motorcycle gang. He would remain leader until being defeated by former gangmate Mr. Anderson in 2014. Afterwards, he reunited with Brother Devon to wage war on TNA owner Dixie Carter, culminating in Ray powerbombing Carter through a table.

Since then, Bubba Ray has competed primarily independently, aside from a short reunion with D-Von in WWE; and is currently a major heel in ROH. He and D-Von were inducted into the WWE's Hall of Fame in 2018.
