Description
Mr.Giggles is a brand new original skin for the MP5-SD. I really like the weapon and from the very moment it came out I wanted to do a skin for it. This started as a fun weekened project and as I was working on it and seeing where it was going and how much potential it had ended up being one of my flag projects for the CS:GO Workshop.

The idea

Mr. Giggles is an evil toon, a criminal clown that has been captured, locked down and now is being used as a weapon. With time it got a liking to it and now he enjoys creating mayhem upon your enemies. This idea comes from a movie I love, "Who framed Roger Rabbit" where they mix in cartoons and real life.

Everything started when I was trying to figure out a custom paint job design for the MP5. I saw clearly that clown-like shoe in the back and as I started sketching and working in the rest, bits and pieces of the mp5 became Mr. Giggles arms, feet, hands, nose...

I took advantage of every element of the gun, even the clips in the barrel to make him smile!

I came up with the "Fun-o-Meter" idea really quick once I decided it was going to be a clown. It has 3 positions: "MEH" (locked) "FUN" (single) and "KILL" (auto).

Inspiration

Mr. Giggles design is inspired by The Joker and Killer Klowns from outer space. The Joker because I love it as a villian and was my first thought when I decided to do a crazy, killing clown. About Killer Klowns from outer space...when I was a kid, I accidentally saw a fragment of this movie and made me freak out a lot! I remember I didn't sleep well for a long time. It was really scary and I thought of them when I decided this skin was going to be about a clown.

Design

The laugh, shackle and Mr. Giggles logo use a normal map. It's done that way to reinforce the "2D cartoon feel" to Mr. Giggles. The shackle feels cartoon-ish and a bit like a toy to lock down a toon like him.

Some areas of the weapon are metallic to avoid that "looks like a toy" feel to it and make it look like a real weapon.
The laugh gradiently disappears as it gets closer to Mr. Giggles so it doesn't take away the spotlight from him.
