Description
What is GroupInfo

GroupInfo is a small addon we use on Comrades in Arms, but I thought it might be interesting to others as well. Its primary function is to show the names of people in your group. If you bring up the HUD (key and mode can be configured), it shows the number and name of people in your group via a small label hovering above their head. The label's intensity will fade out with distance, and will fade out twice as fast if the unit is obscured by terrain or by an object.

Furthermore, it displays a small triangle in one corner with your formation number and team color (if you are assigned to a team). The triangle can be toggled on or off, and can be replaced with a small list of names of people in your team.

When you are in a vehicle, friendly units embarking or disembarking from the vehicle are displayed by a message. If they are entering the vehicle, it also shows the position they moved into ("XXX has entered your vehicle as a driver" for example). Likewise, while the HUD is showing, GroupInfo will display a small popup hint that lists the crew and cargo of friendly vehicles.

GroupInfo also displays a menu (if ACE is loaded the menu integrates with the "self-interaction" menu) that allows you to assume leadership of your group, join a friendly unit's group (if you happen to look at a friendly unit), or automatically assign team colors to your team based on the number of teams you want.

GroupInfo adds a header in the briefing as well, with two entries:
Team Roster - this displays a list of all teams and how they are (originally) occupied. Since briefing entries cannot be updated, the display only represents the initial configuration.
My Start Gear - this displays your gear, weapons with attachments, magazines, explosives, and other stuff you are carrying. The same caveat applies as above, this is a snapshot of your gear at the beginning of a mission.

I wrote this addon for our group, if you can make use of it, all the better :)

@Alwarren great mod!!!! love it.
Feature request: an option to split team colours with members next to each other.

Best way to explain:

team red = 1,2,3,4
team green - 5,6,7,8

at the moment you do this:
team red: 1,3,5,7
team green: 2,4,6,8

Thanks for considering it!!
oh actually there's one more request if possible: add a similar cba option to assign and split group members to different teams on mission start, so we dont have to do it manually.
and maybe with an option to choose to split to 2/3/4 teams.
It would be super useful and time saving. Thanks again :D

I'll see what I can do, currently very much pressed for time but if I get around to updating this, I will include an option.

Super awesome and useful mod, i have one request: Please add option to automatically enable group HUD on mission start, so we dont have to press a key to toggle the player names and they are always visible. Thank you )

Def. the best group name mod on the workshop! Easy to use, maximum needed information by a single click, best way to identify group members ingame. Thx a lot!

Yeah I guess I should advertise more :)

Brilliant! Very happy to have found this mod then; I asked about something along these lines on the BI forums but no one who answered knew about the mod.

Yes, everybody should be able to take lead by pressing the menu shortcut and then "Become Group Leader".

Would this mod also allow someone else to assume command in coop? I’m mainly asking because in dynamic missions that are a bit of a hassle to set up, I end up leading by default, because I have a better understanding of the options, yet I’d like others to take command more often.
