Description
This is an improvement of an old map I made back in 2013. This is the second map ever made with a bumbleball (The first map with a bumbleball was "Bumbleball Tutorial") and the first time it's potential as a puzzle element was used extensively.

You can't quicksave in this map, so be careful. Worst comes to worse, it's not that long.

The bumbleball was a puzzle element made up by Moth and Skotty. Skotty uploaded it to Thinkingwithportals.com (now thinking.withportals.com) and it was never used for something other than a playground map play thing. So I thought of how you could use it as a proper puzzle element and came up with this. Eventually, more people started using it, since it became popular when the BEE2 tool for PTI came out with it.

Original Description:

This map is for whoever likes to play Cricket in the park. Or for whoever just likes to go to the park. Or for whoever wants to see what Aperture can make out of a park together with a 1990s toy.

First proper puzzle with a bumbleball.

I have to add my voice to those who say the bumbleball, while a fantastic concept, works in a very frustrating way in this puzzle. It takes a lot of effort and luck to place it just right over the cube (since it lands weird and wants to roll away) then jumps too fast during the 2-3 secs it takes to go through the portal and onto the elevator platform. I'd love to see it used in more maps but perhaps without such a huge dependency.

my biggest complaint was the laser Collider it felt like I should have been able to fire a portal through it despite there being plenty of room the portal couldn't go through for some reason and that made me really confused also at some point I got the fumble ball and the cube in the pit in front of the door and somehow the fumble ball fumbled its way through the floor and open the exit

so I guess you could say I fumbled my way to the exit

Yeah, I guess you're referring to the part where you have to spin quickly to look at the bumbleball.

While challenging, there are key executions that rely too heavily on hairline fractures of a second to act. This is beyond extreme to the point that it almost seems it wants to discourage the player from solving the puzzle however I do not condemn it. Personally I have rarely if ever passed on a hard challenge, but unfortunately, this has become one that I have to pass. Critical thinking is good however on this one.

Nice map then. I also like the outdoor aesthetics.

Yes. That's it.

I believe I solved it as intended now. I stacked the bumbleball on top of the cube, such that it blocked the laser, and then looked away so that the laser would hit the catcher and respawn the cube.
