One of the most exciting fighters of the 1980s, the man born as Dwight Braxton brought slick boxing skills and a high pressure attack to the Light Heavyweight and Cruiserweight divisions.

Qawi spent five years in prison, serving a sentance for armed robbery, but also received an education in the Sweet Science while behind bars. Upon finishing his term, he trained at Joe Frazier's gym in Philadelphia, where he refined his relentless style.

Often likened to a fireplug for his stout, 5'7 frame, Qawi fought a number of storied opponents in his career, twice defeating Matthew Saad Muhammad, and beating Leon Spinks, but also losing to his brother Michael Spinks and George Foreman.

Perhaps the most important fights of Qawi's career came against Evander Holyfield. The two fought for the Cruiserweight title in 1986, a closely decided fight that resulted in Holyfield's victory by decision. He lost to Holyfield a second time in 1987, this time by knockout.
