Discord Rich Presence for Euro Truck Simulator 2

Introduction

This guide will help you with installing a plugin for ETS2 to show information about your trucking on Discord!

Virtual-Trucker-Rich-Presence allows you to share your Euro Truck Sim playing status with your friends on Discord! It uses ETCARS.

Compatibility

Download & Installation

Download

Get the latest version here:
VTRPC Releases page[github.com]
Click on the .exe file and run it as admin once it's downloaded.
(if you get a Windows Smartscreen pop-up click more info> run.

Step 1

When you open it you will be greeted with this screen.

Make sure you select full installation and click next.

Step 2

If you get an error that says other applications are using files used by setup, select automatically close these applications and click next.
Here you also have the choice between using mp/h and miles or km/h and kilometres. Make a choice and click next. You could also disable VTRPC launching when Windows starts but this is not recommended! If you do you will have to launch Runhidden.vbs in your install directory every time you want to use it.

Step 3

After this ETCARS will be downloaded, when this is done you will get this screen:

Just click finish and your installation is completed!

Keeping the program up-to-date.

Notification through Windows

Whenever there's a new update released, Windows should notify you, you can then download it and install again using the installation section.

Notification through the discord server (recommended)

Join our discord server[discord.gg] to get notified every release, you will be able to see the change notes instantly and you can simply navigate to the release page and download the newest installer!

Check every few days.

Check our release page[github.com] every few days and check if there has been any new releases.

Customizing settings

Navigate to your VTRPC installation directory, typically C:\Program Files (x86)\Virtual Trucker Rich Presence. Open clientconfiguration.json with a program like Notepad++[notepad-plus-plus.org]
You will see this:

Here distanceUnit can be set to m (miles), or km (kilometres).
And customMessage can be set to whatever you want!
Here's an example:
