ETS2 - FreeCam & Console [Linux]

Guide to enable and setting FreeCamera mode and Console on ETS2 Linux version.

Configuration

FreeCam & Console

In your home user folder in your file manager, press shortcut Ctrl+H to unhide and show the hidden files or enable it on the options.
Go to "~/.local/share/Euro Truck Simulator 2"


Edit the config.cfg on text editor, Ctrl+F would be help, find "uset g_developer" and "uset g_console", both set 0 to 1

The FreeCam move speed, can set the value of "uset g_flyspeed", However more easily control it in-game using the mouse wheel.

Console

Enabled the uset g_console, the default key to open the console is "Ctrl+Shift+`"
Let's go change that and setting a alternative way to open a console.

Still on the same path, will find inside your profile folder containing folder named with random numbers and letters, and there "controls_linux.sii" file what are we going to edit.

example my path: "~/.local/share/Euro Truck Simulator 2/profiles/557365726E616D65/controls_linux.sii"

it's best to create a backup copy of this file before editing as a precaution!

Search for "console" and same line change for a shortcut value that has not been used yet.





Mine i have set the key for y, my preference.

How to use

On game use the key number 0, to activate the FreeCam mode and number 8,4,5,6 from numpad to roaming.

Teleport using console

With console you can teleport your Truck to any map location.
In FreeCam mode press the key that you have previously configured as a shortcut to the console. Showing the console prompt, type: goto+the location name, that you intend to go and enter

example: goto milano

Will teleport the camera over there, close the console (same key), then use F9 key to drop your truck along with the trailer, but be careful not to take fall damage.
Use F9 in near the ground.

Be aware that In FreeCam mode, the truck still moving if it is not parked.

Teleport not affects neither works during External Contracts online job, only in offline jobs.
