Welcome:
The EFU Persistent World (EFUPW) welcomes new and returning players to its fifth major chapter, EFU: City of Rings. In EFU, you will:
  • Enter a rich, immersive world where your actions have consequences
  • Collaborate with talented players and Dungeon Masters to tell amazing stories
  • Fight and think your way through dozens of scripted quests and puzzles
  • Uncover and investigate diverse types of randomised explorable areas
  • Make your mark in world-changing events
  • Fight thrilling battles in epic storylines and player-driven conflicts
  • Immerse yourself in the cloak and dagger conflict of major factions and politics within The City
  • Be the one to discover the great mysteries and secrets of the world
  • Customize your character with fully scripted subraces, unique prestige classes, scripted perks and class kits, disfigurements, in-game rituals, trainable animal companions, custom wildshapes, over 25 summoning themes, crafting with alchemy, herbalism, tinkering, cooking, and so much more.

Background:
EFU is a Neverwinter Nights persistent world that has been running since the autumn of 2005. We are a server with lofty ambitions for new heights of cooperative story-telling and immersive roleplay. Using the game engine of Neverwinter Nights (now Enhanced Edition) as our medium, players are responsible for consistently roleplaying characters that participate in a fully immersive world. The DM staff are constantly working to improve the EFU experience on both a gameplay level and story-level.

The EFU persistent world projects regularly changes chapters, transitioning from one version to the next, exploring fresh themes and atmospheres, and making for a dynamic and ever-changing player experience.

As a community, we enthusiastically welcome new players who bring with them creativity, good sportsmanship, and maturity. Our world is technically sophisticated, professionally hosted, constantly updated, richly developed, and has a thriving and active community of players and DMs.

By the standards of NWN, EFU is a relatively low-level, low magic-power world. We challenge players and their characters both mechanically and creatively.

Setting:

You wake up in a state of complete disorientation. You have been sleeping for a long time. A labyrinthine city comes into focus. This place... it is not the world you remember.

Getting Started:

It is no longer necessary to subscribe to this package in order to be able to play EFU Persistent World.
We are a NWSync enabled server, so all content will be automatically downloaded when you first attempt to login.

I appreciate the response.

Personally speaking, I'm just not really a fan of the whole enforced RP idea. I know lots of folks love to roleplay, but I've just never been too keen on it. If that's the primary aspect of your server, then it just wouldn't be a good match for me. Wish you all the best though, and it's encouraging to see so much great stuff being put out by the community.

Hi Michael,

Our principles for new players are actually very simple: be respectful, role-play IC, and don't deliberately cheat. It is true that there is a lot of fine-print but it's not something we expect everyone to spend a lot of time with until they decide that they want to stick around for the long term. I agree that no one wants to spend valuable in game time reading some ancient rule book though, so we will remove that from the starter area.

It may well be that EFU still isn't for you, but I don't really think we're being that unreasonable regarding rules. Not much drama with us, and players who do bring ooc drama tend to be removed from the community.

I was really excited for this. Continued to be excited all the way through making my character and scoping out the neat custom assets.

And then I spawned in front of a bookshelf, and read the "rule book." Immediate pass.

Would be nice if all these pedantic rules were clearly outlined in the Steam Workshop BEFORE sitting through an 8gb download and going through character creation.

Don't get me wrong. It looks amazing. It's very impressive, and it's clearly a labor of love. But this kind of stuff and strong potential for drama is the whole reason I don't play public servers in general for most games.

You select halfling and you put goblin in your subrace. I think. I have never played a goblin myself.

Not at all. It's exactly what it says. Since many have had similar error in nwn, there have been many reasons to it, and people in discord tend to be able to help. I just expect many more are able to help there, rather than here.

If it says you are missing haks, and have confirmed that you downloaded the full package, then it is very likely you have haks from other server that conflicts with our hak packages. It's a common issue when servers may use same hak packages or content from individual hak creators, but customize them.

Many players have sorted it out, I suggest checking discord for help.
