Description
Map Pack: Croatian Islands is the 4rd map pack mod that i have released so far.

WARNING: these maps have insane map sizes, so be sure that you have turned 'experimentalMapSizes = true' in the settings file, because otherwise these maps WILL NOT LOAD. even if you do have this turned on, the maps are so large that it might take a looooong time to load. but they WIL load, as long as you don't click on the screen while loading, and just give it time.

this map pack includes 4 maps which are all focused on a major Croatian coastal city and the Islands around it. the area covered in the maps in total is basicly all of the Croatian coast and islands, apart from the western half of the Istria peninsula. The maps usually are devided into 3 regions: Islands, coast, and inland mountain area. All maps include a number of islands, that will make these maps perfect for boat transport (and air).

The maps included in this map pack are (from north to south):

- Rijeka Island Area: This map covers the coast from the Eastern coast of Istria to the small town of Karlobag. This map includes cities like: Rijeka, Matulji, Čavle, Crikvenica, Novi Vinodolski and Senj. It also includes islands like: Krk, Rab, Cres and the nothern part of Pag. Height range: 90-450. Number of cities: 85. Map Size: 5889x5889.

- Zadar Island Area: This map covers the coast from just north of the town Starigrad in the north to Primošten in the south. This map includes cities like: Zadar, Bibinje, Sukošan, Vodice and Šibenik. it also includes some more inland towns and cities like Gračac and Knin, and the following islands: Ist, Molat, Pašman, Dugi Otok, Kornat and Žirje. Height range: 90-450. Number of cities: 74. Map size: 5121x4609.

- Split Island Area: This map covers the coast from Rogoznica in the north to Ploče in the south. This map includes cities like: Split, Marina, Trogir, Kaštel, Solin, Split, Stobreč, Podstrana, Dugi Rat, Omiš, Makarska and Ploče. It also includes islands like: Ciovo, Šolta, Brač, Hvar and most of Vis. Height range: 93-470. Number of cities: 68. Map size: 5889x2561.

- Dubrovnik (also known as Ragusa) Island Area: This map covers the coast from Ploče in the north to Cavtat in the south. The map also includes parts of Bosnia Herzegovina. This map includes cities like: Dubrovnik,Ploče,Metković, Čapljina, Stolac, Bileća, and Trebinje. Most of these are in Bosnia..... because i really couldn't count much of the Croatian coastal towns in this area as cities. there are still a lot of towns on the map though. This map also includes islands like: Korčula, Pelješac, Lastovo and Mljet. Height range: 90-400. Number of cities: 56. Map size: 5889x2049.

so what's next?

Not sure really. Possibilities that i have been thinking about: Greek Agean Island, Caribean islands, lake areas in Canada or Finland (though that would make finding enough cities very hard), and the Norwegian Fjord coast (though that als is a problem because the insane height-changes). Other suggestions are always welcome though (but no garanties i will act on them).

Hope you will enjoy, and see you in my next map pack!

@milan.kronja10 This link leads to a guide on how to enable experimental mapsizes. This should solve your problem.

OK. I'll check it.

@cichy_wn I just checked it, and the map loaded without any problems for me. is it possible that the error you got is caused by a mod that you used? For example using expanded industry mods will probably change the way the road system is layed out, which could end up creating an error. The fact that there is much water and height differences makes it hard for the AI to create the road system. The first version of this map didn't load because i had placed some towns incorrectly. after changing this it did load, which is why the map is functional at this point. However it does show that the map is on the very limmit of what the AI is able to handle, which might explain that a mod that changes the way roads are layed out on first map loading might cause the map loading to fail.

Hello!
I have a problem with Rijeka map. There is an error, something like "I can't make road network". :(

@embix don't think there is much if not any appropriate rolling stock currently available..... :( Croatia was part of Yugoslavia, and therefor probebly had some cold-war eastern-block trains. the new trains are build by bombardier i believe, and that is a German/Swiss company.... they also have a suprising lack of electic track, so pretty much everything exept maybe some key main city routes are run by diessel trains.

Nice, what rolling stock mods would be appropriate?
