What it will do (when mods aren't broken) is allow the United States and most other nations to hold elections under the Communist or Nationalist paths. Both of these coup events allow you to choose to have elections or not, while the election events railroad you into stopping them.

It also allows the US to pick between 3 leftist parties when they go with the progressive branch of the reform tree.
