Ambrose Jakis (The Kingkiller Chronicles)

From Patrick Rothfuss' 'Kingkiller Chronicles,' Ambrose is the son of the Baron of Vintas, 12th in line to the throne of Vintas.

He's also a colossal tool and the primary rival of the series' protagonist, Kvothe. He goes to great lengths to sabotage Kvothe whenever and however he can, while also flaunting his wealth in annoying and pretentious ways.

...but maybe he's just misunderstood.
