How to play BL2 with more than 4 players. (Updated)

The video is a little out of date now, so read the rest of the guide below if you need further help.

Prerequisites

• The host needs to have My COOP patch tool for Borderlands 2[github.com]

Players can join normally (as if they were joining any other game)

I RECCOMEND BACKING UP YOUR CHARACTER FIRST JUST TO BE SAFE

How to host

• Download[github.com] and extract my patcher tool anywhere you want.
  
  
• Run my patcher tool as an administrator and click "Patch Borderlands 2"
  
  
• Select your Borderlands2.exe. This is usually in

  C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Borderlands 2\Binaries\Win32\

  Please allow the tool around 10 minutes to make a backup of your Borderlands files.
  
  
• Open the shortcut on your desktop labeled "Borderlands 2 - Robeth's Unlimited COOP Mod"
  
  
• At the main menu, open console (the default key is '~') and type

  exec CoopPatch.txt

  and press enter. If you're having issues in game, try running this script again.
  
  
• Select the character you want to play as then click "Continue" to enter the game.
  
  
• You're done! Your friends are now free to join your game!

Enable optional tweaks

• Download BLCMM from here[www.dropbox.com] and launch it. (Requires Java)
  
• Skip through the setup dialog, clicking 'No' on the 'Select options' popup.
  
• Go to 'File->Open File' and navigate to:

  [YOUR-BORDERLANDS-INSTALL-DIR]\Borderlands 2\server\Binaries

  
• Select the CoopPatch.txt and click 'Open'.
  
• Expand the 'OPTIONS' category and check the desired settings to enable them.
  
• Click 'File->Save patch' to save your changes.
  
• Thats it! Close out of BLCMM and run your modified CoopPatch.txt in Borderlands.

F.A.Q and known bugs

This mod is a work in progress, and as such there are still many outstanding issues.

Issue	Solution
How do I know if the mod is running?	If there's other people in your game and you don't see them on the top left corner of your HUD, the mod is running.
Certain Zer0 and Gaige skills make them run super fast	I'm working on a fix. For now, don't use F0ll0wthr0ugh as Zer0 or Unstoppable Force as Gaige
The fifth player cannot join the host from the main menu	I'm working on a fix. For now, invite the player, have them join off another player, or join from the match browser
Players do not appear on the HUD and I don't see nametags	No known fix right now. I reccomend that players use voice chat to communicate useful information like when a player goes down and where
Cars occasionally have 20 health	I'm working on a fix. For now, you can enable the invincible cars option in my mod with BLCMM as a temporary fix for this issue
There is no teleport timer or I cannot open my menu to cancel a teleport	This is a feature of the mod. If you do not like this option, you can use BLCMM to disable it
I can't start a new game with more than 4 people	Don't! It causes issues. Instead, make a new game and start it before inviting the players
Enemies do no damage to players	This was an issue that happened occasionally in the older versions of my mod, so updating should fix your problems. If not, try running the patch again.
I have a bazillion players in my game and I can't get them all to go to the "all players must be present to continue" place. What do I do?	Right now you're boned, but I'm working on removing that from the game.
The mod isn't working, only 4 people can join me!	Make sure you're starting Borderlands 2 with the proper shortcut (see the installation guide)
How do I install this mod on a Mac/Linux/etc?	Right now, you can't with my tool. You may be able to use my old guide to manually hex edit your game, but I would not reccomend it.
I updated the mod but now it's messed up/stuff still doesn't work	Try deleting the server folder in your Borderlands 2 directory before reinstalling the mod
Joltz's Super Randomizer seems to have some issues with 5+ players	It's been reported that running the randomizer script seperately on the main menu works.

• Boots of Haste[raw.githubusercontent.com] by Robeth - Have more players than seats in your cars? This relic will make you run as fast as cars.

This mod is currently non-functional with the current release of Borderlands 2. It has not seen an update since March of 2020, and to be run requires your game to be downgraded to version 1.8.4 (or lower).

It does not. It is possible to downgrade your game version, however.

While not everyone needs the mod to play together, you should all be running the same game version.
