Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC)

Description
Designed and devolped by the US Navy as an amphibious means of ship-to-shore transport to deliver cargo and troops for too difficult or impossible to reach locations by large sea going vessels, the LCAC (or Landing Craft Air Cushion) is the most efficient and effective means to get military assets where they need to go when terrain, a shallow draft, or the threat of landmines would otherwise prove a location impassable.

Took some time out from my Star Wars builds to do something different. Seen a lot of tanks and other military hardware popping up on the workshop lately so if you need an efficient and speedy way to transport all that equipment over sea or boggy terrain then I've got you covered with the LCAC. Besides, who doesn't like hovercrafts? Nobody, that's who! This baby handles exactly as a large hover craft would (CAUTION: in as much it can flip over attempting sharp turns at high speeds!) Like the real life counterpart it can get up to very high speeds during straight travel and can handle terrain of all sorts, however don't expect to climb any mountains with it.

My original design called for using solid blocks for the skirt but I had a problem with clearance for the ramp and I also thought it would be a fun idea to "inflate" and "deflate" the skirt so I used a projection. It uses wheels on pistons to achieve this in that I just could not attach enough thrusters to counteract it's own weight let alone any additional cargo. That being said, fair warning should be given since I haven't tried it with block damage on so there's no telling how that will end (tested - wheels fall off).

This thing is fully functional and I even got the turbines to work for cosmetic effect. All piloting controls are set up in the main cockpit while the ramp controls are in the co pilot seat. I would also recommend setting up landing gears to secure your toys during movement since it is impossible for me to predict everyones vehicle configuration to incorporate those myself.

Includes a few passenger seats for the troops!

Have fun guys, let me know if you run into any issues (it is one heck of a clangtraption after all, LOTS of rotors).

Duh :steamfacepalm:, now that you mention it, I should have known that... I currently live and work around there. Then again I don't get that view often.

Appreciate it. The pic is from Los Angeles at the Hollywood Walk of Fame looking toward the skyscrapers

Well hopefully the updates to the game haven't increased your workload on this one. Also, thank you for your service.

Not sure how I'm just seeing this build now, but glad I found it. I work with the LCACs every day. I have actually been on and done work to the one you have pictured. Pretty spot on!!

It's a C&C Reference. First mission your units are delivered by LCAC's Particularly your MCV.

If clang doesn't rip it to shreds en route

I think you were still afk at the time but here it is! That said, I haven't messed with it since the physics update so caution is advised D:
