Preparation (q version)

Description
Celebrating 2000 hours in Portal 2! :P Modified ending for Preparation by Near.

Note - You do not need to place two portals on the same panel to solve this puzzle. (I would update but I will get the new URL bug.)

Fair warning: contains something kinda finicky.

Version 1: Initial commit, add README.md.
Version 2: Fix a couple portal angles and tweak placement of fields.
Note to self: you put this on TWP so remember to update that when this map needs it. :/

I played this a long time ago and I couldn't solve it. I now started it with a fresh mind and almost managed it but one of the last steps (1:58 in the video) didn't come to mind. It's a great puzzle so I didn't watch the video back then because I wanted to solve it on my own but after keeping this map in my queue for such a long time I wanted to finally get it over with.
Still, I appreciate the work you've put into it. And after that little hint from the video I did solve the rest of it. Thumbs up!

I spent like 2 hours on this map.. ended up checking the solution, I hate myself now for doing it becouse of how far I had become, I already had both cubes on the bridge and it just didn't occur to me to make a portal for the laser shooting up from under the bridge guess I was heavily tilted, been losing my mind on this one, this is the first time I've ever had to watch a walktrough to finish a map. It was very challenging and very well made map. upvoted.

Very nice map was pretty challenging, you get a follower!

Yeah, that's understandable. Hope they would have fixed that by now though. Also, I had to place one of the portals slightly higher than the other to fit it on one panel, if I recall correctly. It was a bit finicky, but I could always get it to work after a while.

Yes - I think it's a bit too late to update this puzzle, because I always seem to get a new URL, and it already has some favorites and comments :( So the best I can do is update the description.

I *thought* that it was not possible to place two portals on a 128-wide surface (I swear it didn't work when I tried!)

[Part 1, read first] So after completing the puzzle, I watched the video and realized I used an unintended solution. I have a few screenshots of my solution below.

http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198128694832/screenshots/?appid=620&sort=newestfirst&browsefilter=myfiles&view=imagewall&privacy=8

The first screenshot shows how I was able to place two portals on one panel, and then position the cube to redirect the laser through it. This caused the excursion funnel to change polarity, which allowed me to get both cubes up onto the hard light bridges.
(I can provide more screenshots if needed, I didn't expect this part to be an exploit, although it's obvious in retrospect.)
This let me get both cubes onto the opposite side of the big emancipation grill relatively easily. I then did the same two-portals-one-panel exploit, which let me redirect the laser around the corner and open the door, as shown in the last two screenshots.

[Part 2, read last] After finding the second exploit, I realized that this probably wasn't the intended solution. Watching the video made me realize where I tripped up, as I had gotten almost to the end, but I didn't realize the laser could be shot up from the ground. Hope this helps, and if you want a suggestion to fix this exploit, you could add one light strip to one side of each panel, which will prevent two portals from being placed on it at once.
