Description
Purpose
A small miner designed for tunneling horizontally or diagonally either manually or with the PAM autominer script and a direct upgrade to the MK 1, with extra cargo space and a stone ejection system. Comes in Atmospheric, Ion and Hydrogen variants.

The hydrogen variant will work in space or lunar environments, but is not recommended for planetary gravity.

Atmospheric: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1722996025

Ion: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?edit=true&id=1722996676

Features

Tools, Scripts & Weapons:
2 forward facing drills
PAM autominer script
Stone ejection system

Power:
1 battery
1 hydrogen tank
1 hydrogen generator

Movement & Control:
1 cockpit
1 remote control
22 small H2 thrusters
1 gyroscope

Cargo Space
2 drills
2 medium cargo containers
1 connector - underside

Miscellaneous:
1 Ore detector
1 sensor
2 cameras - front, underside
navigation lights
2 spotlights
Repair Projector

Recommended PAM settings (if you don't want to collect stone) are to toggle sorters to On and ejection to Drop position. The ship will fly to job start position and eject stone when full. (thanks u/Hind-Sight20-20)

All ships in this set have a rear mounted Merge block and can be printed using a welder wall with one (large grid) piston.

Has an empty mass of 22184 kg

All Programmable blocks are turned off in this blueprint and all toolbars are the same from the cockpit and remote control.

Adding 2 additional downward thrusters makes it work on planetary gravity too. Otherwise it would get too heavy when mining Ice.

No worries man, love your work. As to the offer of access to the design guide is efn fantastic, thank you a:steamthumbsup::steamthumbsup:gain and I will be taking a peek real soon so sorry in advance for the dumbass questions that are yet to come. Have a good one.

Thanks BIV, I appreciate it! :D

Also, if you're building some ships of your own, I have a ship design guide if you're interested in how I go about it: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2077464786

Thanks a heap for posting your creations, they work so well and are just so compact and resilient. I've tried to emulate your approach to the design and end up feeding it to the grinder pit, but it is inspiring. Also the merge block to lock it into the printer is briliant, I've had so much trouble lining up other blueprints without them and it sucks, so 10/10 from me. Cheers mate.

thanks, that explains it.

The Ejector System only includes sorters, and does not include ejectors.

This is for 2 reasons.

1. So that stone does not get stuck in the ejectors. If both sorters and ejectors were in the same group, turning off the group would stop the ejectors from throwing out stone, even if there was still some in them. Leaving the ejectors on ensures that any stone the goes into them is not left behind, while having the sorter(s) turn on and off means that while on, the ejectors have access to the stone and while off the ejectors cannot pull any more stone.

2. The PAM Autominer script also only turns sorters On/Off and not ejectors. So if both sorters & ejectors were in the group and the miner was used for both PAM jobs and manual mining, it could be left with the sorter on and the ejectors of (or vice versa), either trapping stone in the ejectors or not letting any stone into them.

Having thrusters On and Off as separate buttons is very useful and also avoids having some on and others off.

I turn off the braking thrust often as cruise control. It has kind of the same effect as turning dampeners off, but with the added bonuses of also working in gravity, and even in space is more useful than just tuning off dampeners as it prevents drifting.

I am also tying to keep the button commands across all ships in the ISL fleet as consistent as I can, and since that adds up to over 100 ships now, with many different tools, weapons and functions, there is no way I could possibly fit all functions in one or two toolbars.

For example, Toolbar 1 is for thrusters & connectors Toolbar 3 is reserved for PAM controls & Hydrogen in all ships, and toolbar 4 is reserved for SAM autopilot controls.

I will not be changing my toolbar layouts, but you are welcome to change yours.

I would recommend a slightly different button layout, just as suggestion:
Toolbar 1:
1: Thrusters on/off
2: Breaking Thrusters on/off (I actually don't use that, as I either go into Dampeners off or all engines off during cruising.)
3: Lights on/off
4: Ore Detector on/off
5: Drills on/off
6: Bottom Camera View
7: Connector Lock/Unlock
8: Connector On/Off
9: Hydrogen stockpile on/off
that covers primary functions.
Toolbar 3 would be better as 2, as i have to use it more often.
The ejector system group should include the sorters, too, else there gets rock stuck in them
the action fits better into current toolbar 2.

Ok, So it seems like there was a lot missing, but it shouldn't be too had to re-add. We will have to take it up with Keen and see if the bug can be fixed
