Hey there! I'm Hirigo Kobayashi, formerly known as "Kikato," but I also go by 果てしない欲 (Endless Desire), inspired by my former favorite Dota 2 player, EternalEnvy. You've might seen me in some visual novels reviews here on Steam and if you've came from my review, hello there! I'm a huge fan of visual novels, they're my favorite game genre, and I spend a lot of time playing and reviewing them. I also make videos about them occasionally. Aside from that, I love talking about anime and attending conventions (though I have a habit of overspending on merch). When I'm not watching anime or reading manga, I write stories and develop games, mainly visual novels and RPG Maker projects. My dream is to become a successful visual novel developer!

Geminism: One Body. Two Minds. Zero Mercy.
Slight Spoiler Review!

Gotta be brutally honest from the get-go: Geminism is not what I expected it to be. If you're a longtime fan of Craftwork, this one will definitely catch you off guard—it’s not your typical Craftwork visual novel. They’ve always had a reputation for offbeat, psychological narratives, but Geminism feels like a whole different story entirely. In my opinion, Craftwork are basically the pioneers—or at the very least, one of the earliest notable names—behind what we now call the denpa genre in visual novels. So seeing them take such a wild concept and go full battle royale with it is... well, let’s just say it’s a bold move.

Here's a quick TL;DR for those who don’t feel like reading the whole review:

IMPORTANT:If you’re playing this on Steam, it is HIGHLY recommended that you download the R18 Patch on PatchMoe. It's free and you'd understand the story more along side getting the full experience.

Geminism is a kinetic visual novel centered around Kikyou and Kinku, a pair of twins who literally battle for control over their shared limbs. It explores some seriously dark themes including incest, so this isn’t something to pick up lightly.

If you're expecting lots of flashy action or intense fight scenes like I was, you’ll probably want to temper those expectations. The story leans more into the day-to-day lives of the twins and their unsettling dynamic with their so-called “caretakers,” Tsukishiro and Awasumi, rather than constant physical conflict.

My Review on Geminism

My experience with Geminism was kind of a rollercoaster. There were moments where I was genuinely excited, and others where I was just... bored. That’s probably because it wasn’t what I expected going in—but despite that, I still pushed through and finished it. (Full disclosure: I skipped a good portion of Kinku’s route, mostly because it spends a lot of time focused on the daily lives, which started to drag for me.)

At its core, Geminism is a modern-day character drama sprinkled with fight scenes, but the real meat of it lies in the slice-of-life segments outside the common route. Given that this is from Craftwork, a studio often associated with the denpa genre, you might expect something more unhinged or disturbing. But Geminism is surprisingly grounded.

It leans more into being a weirdly fun story than a deeply disturbing one. The central conflict (twins fighting over who gets control of their shared limbs) never feels like the main focus, and that actually works in the game’s favor. It allows the more “comedic” moments (comedy is subjective) to breathe, without the tension of an impending fight constantly looming over the reader’s head.

A huge chunk of the script is shared across the routes, so by the time you’re done with the first playthrough, you've already seen about 80% of the game's text. While revisiting scenes with new context near the end can be satisfying, the earlier ones feel almost identical and can safely be skipped without missing anything meaningful.

The epilogue does a decent job tying up some loose ends and gives a bit more insight into lingering questions, though don’t expect every thread to be wrapped up perfectly.

Geminism is a good visual novel. It’s a bit slow at times, but still an enjoyable experience overall. The themes it explores are undeniably dark, while the comedy, though hit or miss, adds some levity. It’s short enough that it doesn’t overstay its welcome, and strange enough to leave a lasting impression.

In Conclusion

Geminism might not be what you'd expect from a so-called "denpa" visual novel, especially if you're anticipating constant mind games or nonstop action. Instead, it offers a strange but grounded character drama with unsettling undertones and some surprisingly lighthearted moments. It’s not perfect, the pacing can drag, and the route structure can get repetitive, but it’s unique, short, and memorable enough to be worth your time. If you’re looking for something different and don’t mind a slower, weirder ride, give it a shot.

Final Verdict:8.2/10, it's good.
