Lawless space pirates would have been funnier but it's a really neat game

  • Pros
  • Incredibly unique
  • Beautiful art and storytelling

  • Cons
  • Extremely limited video settings
  • Poor controls outside of combat

Almost everything about it is really unique. The cutscenes are drawn images that give it a lot of personality, and while I didn't like the mechanics at first (you use your mouse for everything but a single key), it grew on me and once I got the hang of it it was a lot of fun...as long as you're in combat. Outside of combat the way you move and interact with things is wonked out. Thankfully there aren't many times you have to deal with it, most of the non-combat in the game is awesome art with some dialog choices here and there.

My biggest complaint is the nonexistent video settings. I got some serious screen tearing at times, but much more annoying than that is you can only play in borderless window so if you have a right 2nd monitor you either unplug it or frequently minimize the game on accident trying to dodge enemy attacks.

This is a seriously underrated game. I find it incredibly difficult; some levels on the higher difficulties are just straight up unfair and abusive at times. But every time I play, I get a little better. I'm constantly beating my own scores, even after getting all the upgrades. Boss fights that were impossible started getting easy. Even still, I'll fail miserably more often than not. But I know the next time I'll get farther. The next time after that a little more, and then just one. More. Game.

The biggest flaw is that the speed is tied to your framerate, so if you're on anything higher than 60hz you'll have to set your framerate down in the Nvidia Control Panel or AMD equivalent. Playing on a 165hz monitor would reach ludicrous speed.

The art of the levels and enemies are amazing and are really what make this game shine. There is a story, but it's the most tacked on and cliché thing I've ever seen. There are seven levels in total. The easiest difficulty starts with three of them, the next with five, and the next with all seven. It wouldn't take more than 23 minutes to do a full run through all seven levels, but the replay value of them is insane. There's leaderboards where you can watch your own and others replays; they are great for getting tips on how to do better since you won't really find a guide for this game anywhere. There is a point system that you can either spend on in-game items like health, permanent upgrades that make you more powerful, or revives for when you die because you will. There are four characters you can play that have unique playstyles and abilities. Personally though, I don't think Echo has any redeeming features other than her boobs. Overall, it's an amazing game and highly addictive. Would recommend.

I only own this game because it was free on Humble Bundle. I only launched it because steam.tools said it was the cheapest card set to craft at the time. I could have just idled it, but I'm glad I gave it a no thank you bite. Starting the first 'level', I was thinking to myself, "ugh, a puzzle game". I've never been into puzzle games. I've always figured it was just a genre for people who don't really play video games and horny teenagers wanting to look at anime boobs.

I got the hang of it pretty fast and decided I'd try another puzzle after I beat the first. Once I fully knew what I was doing, the second level was a piece of cake. So was the third. It gradually started getting harder, and before I knew it I was completely hooked and had to force myself to stop playing to get some rest. It's extremely addictive. The art and UI are beautiful. The music is relaxing and sounds great. The settings are very comprehensive. I can't think of a single thing to knock it for. I think it's well worth the asking price, I'm definitely planning on picking it up for some family members who would love it.

The first time I played it I couldn't get into it, I got to the first 'challenging' area and could not for the life of me figure out how to get past it. Coming back to it years later I understood what to do pretty fast and had an absolute blast. It's fairly short, there are only five levels and a boss fight, but the mechanics are very unique and being so short it didn't over stay its welcome. There's some platforming involved but it's more of a puzzle game. You have a laser that can cut through most of the objects in the game giving you many different ways to solve puzzles and get to different areas, and you have a rocket you can attach to things to send flying, which is mostly useful for clearing debris but with some ingenuity you can use it for much more. The story is dumb, but in a good way

I had to really think about giving this game a positive review or not. Before anything, I'd like to recommend that if you care about getting to the end of this game, and you're not hardcore into these sorts of games, then you should play it on easy unless you have the patience of a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ saint. There are no achievements that are difficulty dependent, and you can't change your mind and switch to easy later without redoing every single level.

I desperately want to give this game a thumbs down with how much it makes me rage and verbally abuse my moniter, but I'm determined to finish it without restarting with a 'just one more try' and 'just one more level' attitude, so I can't just take a dump on it because I'm salty. It can be difficult, but the difficulty isn't like Super Meat Boy or anything like that. The difficulty comes from the cropped screen and lasers/rockets that shoot at random intervals. You won't see them or know they're there until it's too late, and if you're dealing with multiple lasers you just have to hope you lucked out with the order the go off on. The majority of my deaths end up feeling cheap like they're the fault of the game rather than my own ability. The higher the difficulty, the more lasers and rockets there will be.

Also, whoever decided it was a good idea to have right thumb stick aim your weapon as the guardian and have B shoot it on controller, is either a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ moron or a lobster. Anyways, the game has a good style to it and I could recommend it on sale for $1 or less, it has gone on sale multiple times for 50 cents.

This is a neat, fairly priced, relatively short game with a total of 50 small physics puzzles. I would give it a thumbs up for what it is if it weren't for the constant game breaking bugs.

Whether I'm in the middle of solving a puzzle or I have it paused to go do something really quick, every ten or fifteen minutes most of the textures will disappear or go haywire making me to have to exit the game and restart it. The one time I tried closing the game from my taskbar instead of from the settings, the game ♥♥♥♥ itself so hard my monitors blacked out and started to flicker/disconnect making me have to force-shutdown. My second monitor currently has a black screen instead of its normal background even without the game running anymore. It'd be an okay game if they hired an exterminator.

This is a good game, but it's NOT for everybody. It's an Old West top down shooter where you've got to draw your revolver, rifle, shotgun, or arrow before they draw theirs, or you're dead. There's also a lot more of them than there are of you. Some levels are fairly easy, some are very challenging, and some are difficult to the point you can’t catch a breath while you shoot enemies off-screen you only know are there because they've killed you the last twenty times you got close enough to see them. Nothing is more painful than getting to the end of a level, and right before you enter the exit zone you let your guard down and get killed out of nowhere, having to do it all over again. Really makes you feel like a badass bandito when you finally shoot them all dead before they can touch a hair on your glorious mustache though. The art and story work really well, I’d recommend if you don’t mind a challenge.
