greedy and unfathomably stupid company, that has some sort of genetic hardcoding to never learn from their mistakes

As someone who works in IT Security, I strongly recommend this game for beginners who want to dip into the world of ethical hacking. I absolutely love how it explains in detail not just how something works but also what the point of it is/the consequences. I learnt many new things myself that I did not even think about specifically before.

As an overview, you learn
- pretty solid linux shell basics (they also have a great list of most used commands and honestly you rarely need more than those)
- dictionary attack concept and good examples
- portscanning with nmap which is the standard tool still used today and as scanning is essentially the most critical part according to most benchmarks like CeHV11 this is great, also really well done explanations which portscans do what and why they are useful
- secondary but equally important knowledge outside of the computer like human error and what are some key security weaknesses like Infos in unshredded trash etc
- networking basics like what is subnet/ip, what port numbers are good to know and for what etc
- forensic skills and inspection of backdoors and creating your own
- lots more vulnerabilities and how to exploit them
- surprising depth

All in all an amazing, underrated game that only holds your hand if you want it to and focuses more on learning by doing.
100% recommend

Underrated as F***

Severely underrated game because of it's gladiator mode which is really good. Basically Spartacus: Blood and Sand / Gladiator / 300 all mashed into a video game. The campaign is also good IMO, if a bit short. But its all about the gladiator coop mode which really makes this game shine for me. Picked it up on sale for 2.99, and am amazed by the game. Can strongly reccomend, don't trust the old reviews, it is a really good game with the gladiator DLC that is now included in the steam version. Execution animations are crazy good and very high quality.

Short Version : Amazing Game, totally underrated due to its admittedly rough start (many bugs and game breaking glitches). Most, if not almost all issues have been patched now and the Game is really worth it.

Long Version:

You start out as literally a ♥♥♥♥ covered bohemian peasant who can do ♥♥♥♥ all and gets trashed by even the lowest bandits. The game forces you to learn the combat mechanics but the realism goes so far that even in lategame if you go 1v5 you can still get rekt if you are not careful. The game is very rewarding and also extremely immersive. I would say it is the most realistic historical game currently out there. You have a lot of different skills apart from combat (alchemy, hunting, etc) which makes it interesting to explore what the game has to offer.

A few negatives are that the game is kinda short, even if you do a fair bit of side quests, and that the combat system, which is probably the best ever for 1v1, sucks hard for 1v 3+. It gets very hard to deal with being swarmed and you need plate armor ASAP to counter this otherwise you get killed everytime.

All in all I can really recommend this game as someone who has played a lot of historical games and history buffs will really love the detail the devs put into the design for some places. Although short, the main story is awesome and really showcases the journey you make from a nobody - peasant to a professional soldier. Very rewarding and extremely well paced, with some missions being completely different than any you did before or would have expected (Monastery !!).

9.5/10 if you like history,
otherwise maybe like 8.5/10

This was the first game I ever played so it has a special place for me, and Beamdog did the game justice. Basically the same just nice and refined, new stuff, classes, quickloot bar (best thing ever!). Just what I wanted. Icewind Dale along with Baldurs Gate 1 and 2 are legendary tier games, 10/10.

Anyone who likes some story like in Baldurs Gate but which focuses more on tactical combat and party creation/building will love this game. I know Icewind Dale II cant be made because the source code was lost, but if you redo it Beamdog that would be awesome.

One of the best games ever.
