Is it good? Yes!
Is it everything i wanted? No?
Is it long? No
Is it narratively satisfying? Yes

I've been following this project for over 7 years now from back when it was the HK Project. Ever since Murdered: Soul Suspect did some cat levels i yearned for an open-world cat game as the main focus.

Sadly this is not that much of an open world and yes it's very on rails because it's telling a story. Thankfully the story is a good one and the characters are compelling. It's not too consolely in execution (something i loathe on PC) but i wish it had either been more story driven or more open world.

The side quests are pure time filler with no reward, which is a shame, and the change of gameplay focus in each chapter is not going to please everyone (just get through the sewers fast so we can get back to having fun). The danger of the sewers are oddly at odds with the on rails safety of jumping mechanic areas. If there was one animal that can take a fall it's a cat.

Glad it finally came out and that i bought it early to support devs who worked hard for years to bring out a game that is amazingly close to the early visuals they posted. Kudos.

A charming and thrilling little adventure with lots of offer

[] = 7/10

+ Top notch voice work and script brings characters to life
+ Characters are realistic and their interactions are wonderful
+ Incredible use of the setting
+ Induces feelings of tension, sadness and angst, brilliantly via the plot

~ Some mechanics feel pointless time wasters (slow rappelling, the camera)
~ No real puzzles to solve, just walk and click on things
~ The ending could have been more satisfying but it does have an ending that answers questions
~ Some areas you keep walking through and you can end up wandering
~ Some areas are overloaded with objects to report on

- Some bugs where you can get trapped by the geography

Early Access Review
A mix of tension (as you saw around an unstable reactor), relaxation as you make plans and precise cuts, thrill of bursts of decisions to best resolve a looming situation and calming down again to deal with the aftermath.

Each ship type is a puzzle to explore and the minor variance between those subtypes throws you the odd curve ball but once you understand the layout and your tools there is pretty much a master plan that works every time and you move on up to a bigger and newer class of ship that applies your knowledge and adds to it.

I love the format and the recent updates have only made the game better for different play styles and fixed prominent bugs.

Hopefully for the future there be: more types of ship, more variance with in them (different cargo, internal layouts, manufacturer specific designs), different materials that cut differently, more to the dismantling puzzles, more use for the star anchors while disassembling a craft, bigger upgrade tree, more of the fun voice over and background plot, keeping that freedom and experimentation to dissections.

Damn fine stuff.. and the best use of Deadspace's Linecutter tool in a game since.. well Deadspace.

A point n click ideal for parents to play with their kids.

[] = 6/10

+ Charming 3D artwork
+ Simple story effectively told
+ Good voice work

~ Pixel hunt for items makes puzzle solving harder than it should be
~ Sometimes dragging items fails and you have to try over and over
~ Pretty short and basic plotting
~ No hint system, tutorial or interactive point highlight

- Feels like a kids game but some of the mechanics and clues are too fiddly to execute and they would get frustrated without an adult

Badly in need of a skip cutscene button.. even exiting is chronically slow.

Apes 80's arcades but always seems to lack finesse (no kick button in the street fighting, super weapon doesnt hit more than 1 enemy in the R-Type clone) a superb idea and a lot of heart but sadly lacking all over.

Early Access Review
[] = 7/10

+ Charming Settlers-like graphics
+ Beautifully detailed villages
+ Freedom to place buildings as you like
+ Proximity of related buildings is not necessary allowing for more varied and organic villages
+ Lots of control over your villages careers

~ In early access with unfinished elements
~ Tutorial has improved but still lacks some detail
~ Some very confusing mechanics in their early stages

- Early access means changes but so far releases have been considered and steps forward each time.

Retro FPS point n click adventure

[] = 6/10

+ Solid plot line
+ Really atmospheric
+ Good voice acting
+ Some wonderfully creative and disorientating sequences

~ Awkwardly written inter chapter descriptions dont feel Lovecraftian and have to explain whts going on
~ Saves are controlled by the game but not overly punishing
~ Areas of insta-kill events with little explanation
~ Bolted on RPG element feel unnecessary, trying to create re-playability
~ Very linear by design
~ Ends are somewhat underwhelming
~ Choices seem to have very little imapact

- Really poor animations let down the tone, character design and immersion at key moments
