Dark Light is a cryptic stealth and secret-laden game made with RPG-Maker.

Game-play
Most of the map is pitch-black, and all you (the player) can see is your immediate surroundings. It makes playing the game very hard, and you will die and die again from unforeseen threats. If this doesn't appeal to you, you can toggle "lighting" in the settings menu, which will illuminate the whole map.

I chose to keep the default "dark" setting, because I don't like myself.. I would later regret this, and after three hours I turned the setting off.

Monsters roam-about, and will kill the protagonist should they hit her enough. She's helpless, so your only recourse is to avoid confrontation at all costs. There are hidden items scattered-about, picked-up by "interacting" with un-marked tiles. Some items are only accesible from hidden rooms, activated by switching switches.

Just don't switch more than one switch at a time. Trust me, you'll thank me later.

Some items can be used to heal the protagonist, and others are crucial to progressing (such as a hammer to smash blocks). Water heals, scrolls. . . I'm not sure. If you find any clovers, chow down. The main goal of the game is to leave the bunker with a four-number password, the (scrambled) characters hidden around the map. If you want the "Good Ending", be sure to activate every computer terminal you find.

The lewd content of this title is found via hidden items. While a lot of them are in plain site, a good chunk of them are hidden. The "lewd content" in question consists of still (anime) images. Some of them seem to have strange filters/distortions, which. . . is out of place. I think you need to collect all of the images to get the "Good Ending", and some of them are very, very hard to find. There's a good chance you'll need to consult the Developer's guide.

Story
The game starts outdoors, with the protagonist just-outside a shady bunker. She steps inside, and finds herself locked-in. Through-out the bunker are monsters and lewd images (of what I presume are previous women who locked themselves inside). To my knowledge, there's an "evil organization" that is responsible for the bunker. What their intents are, is never explained. So there's your story.

Visuals
Based on RPGMaker, DarkLight uses a number of default RPGMaker sprites. The visuals are generic, and I'd venture to say that there's very little original sprite-work. But custom-sprites are pricey and time consuming, so I'm willing to give them a pass. The lewd-content is okay, but nothing to rant and rave about. It seems a bit out of place, considering the protagonist is never personally involved in lewd scenes. They depict an unnamed character in out-of-context, sexual situations.

Verdict
I want to recommend this game, because I had fun playing it. But if I were to look at it more objectively, I think this is a bad game. It is far, far too cryptic, and feels extremely unpolished. If you're not careful, you can soft-lock yourself with a bad move, and I don't think a player could reasonably beat this game without a guide. If you're a fan of secrets, then this title is worth a shot, provided you grab it on sale.
